Our flagship project, The Redress Design Award (RDA), is the world’s largest sustainable fashion design competition and works to inspire and educate emerging fashion designers, whilst championing sustainable and circular fashion.
We are looking for an experienced and dynamic candidate with a passion to drive sustainable fashion into the mainstream through education.
Overall management of the Education team, with one Education Manager as a direct report, and overall responsibility for the wider team including one Education Associate and various interns and volunteers.
Oversee the strategic content, timeline and delivery of the entire Redress Design Award competition cycle and associated education components, including :
Lead on the RDA competition content and format, including setting application and judging criteria, identifying judges, overseeing the judging process and managing the overall cycle calendar and all education related deliverables in the government grant.
Lead new education initiatives to mark the 10th anniversary cycle of the Redress Design Award for 2020.
Lead on educational content creation and development for the RDA LEARN platform, together with public exhibitions and other educational materials for a target audience of 100,000+ fashion students, emerging designers, academia and industry professionals.
Identify, manage and develop key relationships and outreach to 12-15 key university partners in HK and around the world, in addition to overseeing 100+ other university partners with direct support from the Education Manager.
Co-lead on the format, content and presentation of academies, lectures, sponsor workshops in Hong Kong and overseas in order to deliver the RDA educational message to a target audience of fashion students, emerging designers and academia.
Lead on relationship building and outreach to designers, retail buyers and industry professionals to bring in expertise and connections for the benefit of the RDA competition and the 150+ Global Alumni Network.
Develop both quantitative and qualitative impact measurements against key deliverables throughout the RDA competition cycle.
Liaise and co-develop the overarching messaging for all educational content in collaboration with the Strategic Partnerships and Communications Director, including video and website content.
Key spokesperson for select interviews, presentations and Chinese-speaking media etc.
Lead on industry engagements with a key focus in Asia, including panel discussions and conferences, such as the annual Fashion Summit in HK.
Work with the Circular Fashion team as needed on initiatives and projects to share knowledge and promote the RDA.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Minimum 10 years experience in a relevant business or charity role, with established fashion, textile industry and education institution contacts.
Detailed understanding of current issues, trends and challenges in sustainable / circular fashion.
Proven experience in a managerial position with involvement at a strategic programme level.
Proven experience in curriculum development and / or direct teaching experience at a tertiary education level.
Undergraduate university degree (e.g., B.A. or equivalent - degree holder) in fashion or sustainability related subjects preferred.
Visa to live and work in Hong Kong (please note that candidates without a Hong Kong visa will only be considered under exceptional circumstances)
REQUIRED SKILLS & DESIRED PROFILE
Fluent written and spoken English, Cantonese and Putonghua.
Passion for creating positive change through education.
A strong team player with excellent multi-tasking skills
Excellent time management and organisational skills.
Strong communication skills, with public speaking experience.
Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills a must.
