We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Infrastructure Solution Architect .

Principal responsibilities

  • Critically review and approve all infrastructure designs for retail banking and wealth management IT Insurance ensuring designs meet the architecture strategy and the overall enterprise infrastructure strategy.
  • The infrastructure architects also contributes to the management and optimisation of the portfolio of infrastructure for each business unit, driving operational improvement and cost efficiencies.
  • Investigate new infrastructure technologies to meet the business requirements.
  • Provide technical governance over the Products used in HSBC through the Technical Reference Model
  • Provide service governance of both existing and new technical non functional service definitions maintained within an Infrastructure Service Catalogue
  • Author and review Infrastructure Architecture Designs, approved by the Solutions Architecture Board
  • Manage relationships across HSBC IT Architecture, IT Infrastructure Delivery and IT Insurance development team areas on an on going basis
  • Keep up to date with business strategies and road maps, technology roadmaps and feeding wider business IT requirements into central infrastructure engineering and strategy teams
  • Use knowledge of the business, applications and infrastructure to make recommendations where improvements can be made
  • Determine business requirement and influence solution towards Infrastructure future state model
  • Gauge strategic impact to business function, impacted upstream and downstream services and subsequent technology footprint
  • Ensure logical design contributes to technology objectives
  • Examine potential demise opportunities and propose deployment options
  • Delivering end to end technical infrastructure designs, ensuring Non Functional Requirements are realised and validated
  • Verify impact to adjacent services or systems and Validate deployment and support model
  • Requirements

  • Have a system engineering background and the ability to compare and contrast different solutions to meet a business requirement.
  • Provide technical thought leadership in evaluation of new technologies to meet business requirements and influence key stakeholders leading to adoption.
  • Have in depth conceptual functional and non functional knowledge of Cloud technologies such as Google, GCP, APIs, Continuous Integration or Continuous Delivery such as Jenkins, GitHub, Nexus, Automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Terraform, Middleware such as Websphere, Tomcat, Java, Messaging, Application Server, Web server, Networking technologies such as Cisco, TCP UDP, Broadcast Multicast, LAN WAN, SDN.
  • Server Operating systems internals, benchmarking and performance tuning such as Linux, Windows, Solaris.
  • Server Virtulization such as VMware, Xen, Hyper V, KVM.
  • Storage such as EMC SAN FC, FCoE, iSCSI, SRDF, NetApp NAS CIFS, NFS, Object storage.
  • Databases such as Oracle RAC, Sybase, Apache Hadoop and Hbase, MongoDB.
  • Collaboration tools such as Confluence and Jira.
  • A track record of delivering significant change which improves business effectiveness in sustainable ways
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills with experience of successfully influencing senior stakeholders, negotiating effectively and winning over audiences with compelling and persuasive presentations
  • Set and achieved challenging short, medium and long term goals which exceeded the standards in their field
  • Proven experience of leading others and creating an environment that supports and inspires people to develop and deliver
  • Built effective networks both internally and externally and created opportunities for others to work collaboratively
  • A track record of making complex business decisions with authority, even in times of ambiguity, considering the potential long term risks and implications
