Executive Officer I (Innovation)

To promote innovation and entrepreneurship, the appointee will be working with researchers, students and alumnus to create and deliver value of their research outcomes or initial start-up concepts through a comprehensive set of programmes.


  • Conduct in-house innovation programmes to enable interdisciplinary groups championing diverse ideas to evolve their concepts culminating into actual businesses that spin off from CityU;
  • Coach project teams in their pitch for their business at / to : networking events, business plan competitions, accelerators, angles, incubators, investors, and government and non-profit funding;
  • Manage and coordinate innovation and entrepreneurship-related events on and off campus;
  • Manage and build a mentor network to connect students with mentors, and monitor and conduct feedback to improve mentor-mentee matching;
  • Conduct training for mentors to expand reach of in-house innovation programmes;
  • Facilitate administration of various funding programmes for innovation and entrepreneurship; and
  • Manage KTO social media accounts that relate to Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
  • Requirements

  • A good honours degree in Engineering (e.g., EE / EEE; ICT), Life Science, Material Science or any combination of these fields, with not less than 5 years’ relevant experience
  • Ability to orchestrate / moderate / lead discussions of a class / audience with multi-disciplinary background, implement and document a wide variety of programmes involving dierse interest groups;
  • Ability to grow a network of accelerators, angles, incubators, investors, venture capital, etc. that enables university spin-offs to find opportunities and resources to operate a real businesses;
  • Strong command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua);
  • Work independently in a fast-paced environment, good organizational and interpersonal skills are required; and
  • Experience in or familiarity with patent and copyright laws, venture investment, incubation programmes, facilitation of collaborative teamwork spaces, start-up, financial analysis, and possession of good skills in approaching and wooing investors would be an advantage.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.

    Salary and Conditions of Service

  • Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract;
