The Client Services department is responsible for delivering excellence in service on behalf of our products, strategies and Oaktree operations to current and prospective limited partners globally.

This client services professional will be aligned to specific Asia-Pacific country coverage teams, including but not limited to our Japan coverage team, and will serve as the central point of contact for all related client inquiries, and partner with Oaktree’s country-

specific Marketing representatives as well as all Oaktree departments, including Product Management, Diligence Services, Portfolio Analytics, Risk & Reporting, Legal, Compliance, Accounting and Portfolio Management to quarterback investor needs throughout the firm.

Investor and Inquiry Management Serve as the single point of contact for all service inquiries, developing strong working relationships with the operating and investment functions at investor organizations and gaining an understanding of how an investor operates and their investment objectives in order to better service them and position Oaktree’s capabilities Lead the response to client inquiries and requests for Japanese-

and other APAC-based clients. Requests may pertain to product / portfolio, firm / organizational or operation information.

Specifically with regards to the management of client inquiries, the Client Services Representative will : Develop strong working relationships with Oaktree’s investment and back-

office teams in order to best meet investors’ needs Prepare client service materials which may include investment overviews and statistical analyses Stay current on regulatory changes that may impact client servicing (e.

g. Dodd-Frank, EMIR, FATCA) Serve as the subject matter expert for a subset of the following topics (which are holistically covered within Client Services) : ILPA, ESG, accounting topics such as statement or fund financials reconciliations, regulatory and compliance topics, Oaktree organization, Oaktree policies, operational due diligence Client Meeting Management Organize and host investor portfolio review meetings and operational due diligence review meetings, and facilitate meeting follow-

up as appropriate Conduct investor portfolio reviews as appropriate, developing broad marketing knowledge and more in-depth portfolio-

level expertise in order to communicate key updates and respond to investor questions Materials Creation and Management Translate and localize marketing and due diligence materials either serving as the primary translator or reviewing the translation of others.

Materials may include memos / white papers, pitch books, legal documents (PPM, prospectus, LPA, etc.), RFPs, fact sheets, biographies and custom presentations the sales and marketing process by leveraging firm wide resources to respond to formal RFPs / RFIs for Oaktree’s funds and ad-

hoc due diligence questions, and (ii) client monitoring efforts by preparing RFIs and fulfilling periodic information requests Selectively custom create, as needed and in compliance with local laws and regulations, new materials and collateral that specifically address the needs or requirements of investors, primarily leveraging existing marketing and service content and materials


  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within the financial services industry Ability to interact directly with clients Superior communication skills, both written and verbal Solid foundation in investment finance concepts and ability to acquire thorough knowledge of the legal, accounting, compliance and operational aspects of the investment products offered by Oaktree Highly resourceful;
  • ability to exercise superior judgment regarding client requests : to interpret them, ask appropriate questions, do homework, and only expend internal resources of the firm for the most relevant, needed situations Proven ability to prioritize and execute multiple workstreams while maintaining the highest quality standards;
  • exceptional organizational skills SFC Paper 1, or ability to acquire licenses in a compressed timeframe

    Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA or CFA a plus English Excellent in both written and spoken skills Japanese Excellent written and verbal skills
