Reporting to the Director of Laboratory Safety and Risk Management, the appointee is responsible for regulating laboratory safety compliance which includes establishing and updating guidelines and standard operating procedures, and performing reviews and compliance checks to ensure that the University teaching and research activities in the laboratories comply with legislations, policies and procedures (both internal and external).
The appointee will contribute to the risk management in teaching and research activities and advise academic units and research centers in designing / updating guidelines to mitigate the risk of the University in breaking laws and regulations.
The appointee will also serve on committees and provide training on compliance related topics / policies / procedures; and any other duties as assigned.
A higher degree, preferably with a doctoral degree in Chemistry, Material Sciences, laboratory safety, laboratory risk management or related disciplines, with a minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in laboratory safety / regulatory / compliance roles.
Applicants with lower qualifications but possess substantial experiences in overseas / local tertiary institutions, statutory bodies and government agencies are also encouraged to apply.
Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese, analytical mind, teamwork and problem solving skills are required.
Preference will be given to candidates who possess professional memberships of reputable health and safety institutions.
