Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant Professor in Epidemiology and Biostatistics in the School of Public Health (Ref.

503699), to commence as soon as possible on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a doctoral degree by research (Ph.D., D.Sc., Dr.P.H. or equivalent) in epidemiology, microbiology, bioinformatics, bio-mathematics / statistics or related disciplines.

  • They should have strong expertise in infectious disease epidemiology including the analysis of antimicrobial resistance dynamics using statistical or mathematical approaches;
  • excellent written and oral communication skills; and the ability to work independently and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

    Relevant post-doctoral work experience in the analysis of phenotypic and genotypic antimicrobial resistance data, and an excellent track record of publications and grants would be advantages.

  • The appointee will conduct infectious disease epidemiological research primarily focusing on antimicrobial resistance. He / She will supervise junior research staff and students;
  • develop research programs independently; write scientific publications, grant proposals and reports; and assist in general administrative, operational and other duties as assigned.

    A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.

    At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.
