Control Office Manager

Financial Control Division FIN COO Department

Hang Seng's Financial Control function works closely with the Bank's stakeholders, including business partners, shareholders, regulators and external examiners.

We function as their accountants and business partners in providing comprehensive information on financial management, financial planning, financial reporting and compliance, capital planning and reporting, financial control & SOX control, tax advisory, insurance finance, and treasury and investment finance.

As a publicly listed Bank in HK as well as a subsidiary of the HSBC Group, the Bank is governed by the compliance and disclosure of financial reporting requirement from various regulators.

It is important for Financial Control to implement, manage and enforce appropriate operational risk management through the Group’s Operational Risk Management Framework appropriately to monitor and mitigate those risk.

We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our department as Control Office Manager .

Principal responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with the operational risk and control management framework according to HSBC Group guidance;
  • Liaise with Operational Risk and provide support and guidance to various Finance teams to ensure that appropriate operational risk and control identification and assessment is undertaken for Finance function in HK and oversea sites;
  • Provide financial control guidance and support in the region to ensure that the operational risk of Finance is properly managed;
  • Develop and produce the risk and control reports with regard to the advised committee meeting schedules to facilitate management for review and decision making;
  • Maintain finance internal control standards, including monitoring of assurance review findings, internal and external audit issues together with any issues raised by external regulators;
  • Act as a conduit for responding to control issues raised within Finance.

    Requirements

  • University degree in Accounting or related discipline with a recognized professional qualification in accountancy
  • Good knowledge and practical experience in accounting risks and controls (5-10 years)
  • Excellent presentation, communication (in written and oral English and Chinese) and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and project management skills
  • Ability to prioritise and work independently under pressure within a team environment
  • Proven problem solving skills with ability to consider alternative solutions
  • Sound commitment to continuous improvement, self-motivated, confident, and capable of working autonomously as well as part of a team
