Position Description :

The NBA is one of the world’s most innovative media and entertainment organizations and basketball is one of the most popular and participated in sports.

NBA Asia, powered by its Global Content and Media distribution division, is rapidly growing sports and basketball fans, pioneering partnerships and dynamic revenue segments.

The Media and Content Business Development and Strategic Planning Lead will play a principal role in accelerating the NBA’s distribution aspirations and commitment to entertaining Asia’s basketball and sports fans through inventive partnerships and direct relationships.

The individual will report to the department head and will work across the Global Content and Media Distribution’s sales, digital / direct-to-consumer, programming and production and partner marketing teams in Hong Kong, Manila, New York and Secaucus.

The position is best suited for a versatile and motivated individual who has a superb strategy and analytical skills and experiences and is ready to be a key member of an organization and team that is thinking big and wants to successfully navigate the waves of technological and behavioral transformation and change.

A key area of focus will include developing bold yet data-driven strategic initiatives across NBA Asia’s content portfolio including live games, ancillary programming, original productions, and youth content.

The successful candidate will also lead high-value media investment initiatives and contribute to priority growth areas such as SVOD and direct-to-consumer offerings.

Major Responsibilities :

Business Development and Strategy

  • Identify, assess and plan for new opportunities for growth and rapid market expansion, partnering with media distribution sales, digital, direct-to-consumer, content and marketing teams
  • Lead and drive investment planning, preparation and recommendation process
  • Collaborate with NBA New York headquarters to develop market growth strategies and drive operational improvement and be a trusted and active advisor to Asia team’s senior leadership
  • Content and Media Distribution Planning

  • Lead and align cross department annual business planning, prepare annual market overview, set strategic goals and revenue projections
  • Spearhead innovative distribution, partnerships, and monetization models and paradigms
  • Support deal negotiations through strategic assessment, financial analysis / modeling, and out-of-the-box perspectives
  • Insights & Analytics

  • Establish a data-driven paradigm together with data teams across the NBA
  • Lead data collection and analysis of business metrics
  • Design and lead actionable and insight-driven fan-centric research studies
  • Be the team champion for market intelligence, industry developments, and best practices
  • Required Experience & Knowledge :

  • A person who is curious, analytical and genuinely interested in making sense of the tremendous changes occurring in media
  • Strong business acumen to identify business trends and opportunities; proven ability to think, speak and write clearly and crisply
  • Distinctive project management experience, lead and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work with and influence multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced, heavily matrixed organization
  • Asia experience or a deep interest in the region; a network in the international and Asia Pacific digital and technology communities is a plus
  • Multilingual
  • Willingness to travel
  • Educational Background Required :

  • University degree a must
  • MBA or tertiary degree ideal
