Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management.

The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, contingency, geopolitical, operational, credit, pension, insurance, financial crime and regulatory compliance, market and reputation risks.

All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.

We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Resilience Risk Manager Priority Markets Asia Pacific and Global Insurance .

Principal responsibilities

  • This role holder sits within the Resilience Risk Retail team and sits within the Priority Markets ASP and Global Insurance, Retail team
  • The role holder is accountable for developing and maintaining a credible and influential working relationship with key stakeholders within their focus area providing both robust stewardship and actionable guidance, to ensure that the appropriate management of operational resilience is embedded
  • The role will focus on those products, services and sub business, which are subject to the highest levels of risk, and must enable their business to continue growing safely
  • The role holder will work collaboratively with sister Resilience Risk teams and Global Business Operational Risk teams
  • Ensure strategic change programmes that they are responsible for within their focus area embed appropriate operational resilience at their outset.
  • Ensure that resilience is not adversely affected as a result of poor planning, testing and approach during the delivery of major and strategic change programmes within their focus area
  • Delivering tailored and specific expertise and challenge to their stakeholders, enabling them to better understand their profile, and successfully deploy and operate mitigating key controls
  • Enabling their focus area to adapt swiftly and effectively to a rapidly evolving commercial, regulatory and threat environment
  • Supporting the dissemination of relevant learnings from incident root causes and near misses within their focus area
  • Support the implementation and embedding of the Resilience Risk strategy, ensuring they deliver to a high quality and with a consistent approach
  • Provide their focus area with a clear understanding of their underlying material resilience risks assessed, with corresponding issues, actions and ultimately remediation plans that are fit-for-purpose and credible
  • Ensure the capture of the same in the formal risk register is sufficiently robust
  • Requirements

  • Deep level of risk management knowledge and relevant experience in at least one of the underlying risk disciplines
  • Ability to communicate effectively, building strong relationships and influencing key senior internal and external stakeholders by articulating compelling arguments, positions, strategy and vision.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the external environment including risk, regulatory, geopolitical and competitors
  • A change agent who challenges the status quo as a robust diplomat such as cogently, constructively and positively, leading relevant strategies that enable safe growth of HSBC
  • Capability in delivering on time, to budget and to a high level of quality
  • Tertiary education will be highly preferred
