We are looking for an Information Architect to build, optimize and maintain conceptual and logical data pipelines which will eventually lead to the development of a Data Lake for the University.
Ultimately, s / he will develop enterprise data warehouse / data lake solutions to ensure information is stored effectively and securely.
Develop data integration solutions to store and retrieve information;
Install and configure information systems to ensure functionality;
Analyze structural requirements for new software and applications;
Migrate data from legacy systems to new platforms;
Design conceptual and logical data models and flowcharts;
Improve system performance by conducting tests, troubleshooting and integrating new elements;
Optimize new and current database systems;
Coordinate with other stakeholders of the University to identify their analytics needs and requirements; and
Provide operational support for Management Information Systems (MIS).
A Master's degree in Computer Science or related disciplines. Proven work experience as a Data Architect, Data Scientist, Data Analyst or similar role, with at least 5 years’ experience in data integration or related fields;
Solid experience in carrying out and managing multiple end-to-end data integration projects including all phases of data integration process (e.
g. requirements gathering, data filed mappings, data pipeline design, data modelling, writing ETL, maintenance of the enterprise data model and enhancements);
In-depth understanding of database structure principles;
Experience in gathering and analyzing system requirements;
Knowledge of data mining and segmentation techniques;
Expertise in SQL scripting with knowledge of R, Python, Java / Scala;
Proficiency in handling large volume of data (e.g. Big Data Hadoop systems or Spark), and knowledge of installation and configuration of Hadoop on machines would be an advantage;
Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g. Qlik Sense, Tableau, Power BI, Python); and
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as good learning attitude.

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract;
