Senior Manager, Financial Risk Management, Asia


As a team member of Group Risk Management with key responsibility in Asian entities, the role is to :

  • Support the ongoing development, maintenance and implementation of the AXA Group Standards and Policies relating to Financial and solvency risk management : Representing Asian Markets’ voice to ensure regional specificity is considered;
  • Disseminating AXA Group Standard and Policies and provide support in local implementations.

  • Oversee the financial, ALM and investment risk profiles of Asian entities : Ensure that the risk management / appetite framework is effectively implemented in Asian entities with appropriate risk monitoring, identification / quantification and remediations;
  • Monitor and manage ALM risks through active participation in the SAA review exercise. Provide second opinion and recommend management actions to address ALM risks where appropriate;
  • Collaborate with Investment department in the formulation, implementation and monitoring of risk mitigation strategies;Monitor and report any actions which breach Group policies and risk appetites, provide guidance to Asian entities in formulating rectification plan and actions.

  • Participate in the approval process of investment initiatives (incl. new non-traditional investment, hedging strategies, derivative programs and custodian / external manager selection) and provide risk management opinion.
  • Support product development in providing guidance to Asian entities on the management of their financial and ALM risks.
  • Contribute to the economic assumptions setting process. Provide independent opinion and coordinate discussions among Investment department, Economist and FRM in case of any misalignment.
  • Assess and support Asian entities in enhancing their Financial risk management technical competency level, by : Refining AXA Group maturity model in regard to FRM for better assessment and articulation on entities’ current level of competencies, which forms the basis for improvement planning and goal setting;
  • Leveraging expertise within AXA for best practice sharing and contributing own expertise in development of technical excellence guidelines, training materials and relevant tools for local entities;
  • Collaborating with the AXA Group to enhance expertise in FRM; participate in studies and drive implementation of improvement initiatives in Asian entities;
  • Assess and provide support to entities in enhancing their domain knowledge in process, guideline and standard procedures development other technical areas regarding FRM where required.

  • Lead and participate in financial risk-related ad-hoc projects based on management requests or external developments.
  • Promote risk awareness culture and encourage proactive risk management to anticipate emerging threats and potential risks, ensuring prompt identification, reporting, mitigation and management.
  • Your Profile

  • Degree / Master holder / professional certification in finance or related disciplines, Qualified actuary and FRM preferred.
  • At least 10 years financial services and insurance industry experience, with minimum of 3 years focusing on FRM / ALM / Investment at managerial level or above.
  • ALM, Risk management and Solvency II experience are advantages.
  • Experience of hedging strategies, derivatives or alternative investment a plus.
  • Strong process management knowledge, logical structuring and frame-working skills, with track record of participating in relevant projects in a diverse team.
  • Possess competencies in analytical skills, and ability to break down complex technical problems into essential elements and identify the priority areas for planning and executions.
  • Flexibility and ability to multi-task and work independently prioritizing tasks along critical path to deliver on time.
  • Fluent in spoken & written English is required (ability to speak one or more Asian languages would be desirable).
  • Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management skill across all levels of an organization is essential.
  • Effective team player and pragmatic problem solver, enjoys working within diverse teams and intercultural exchanges.
