Position summary

This role will have the responsibility for developing the sales activities for IHS Markit EDM suite of solutions and services across South East Asia financial institutions.

The position reports into the regional Head of Sales, and provides responsibility for new sales over a defined territory, including all aspects of the role including pipeline building, qualification of leads, progression of opportunities until closing as well as identifying and managing a network of local partners.

Job Description

The candidate will work as the main driver of revenue acquisition across assigned accounts and product lines and will ensure that the business goals are achieved.

The candidate will work within the Financial Markets and Energy sales teams to generate leads, and work closely with other EDM teams to close the qualified opportunities.

Specifically, duties & responsibilities include :

  • Generation of new lead pipeline for new business and existing clients in South East Asia
  • Propose and defend business strategies for the South East Asian markets to internal management
  • Proactively propose and conduct sales campaigns to identify new potential business
  • Maintain pipeline and generate management reports (cold calls list, user list etc.) from Salesforce
  • Identify and qualify the client’s needs and determine how to best position the EDM suite of solutions and services
  • Be self-sufficient on all steps of a software selling process to deliver against the sales target, with the help of the various internal EDM teams
  • Take responsibility for acquiring and keeping Markit EDM product knowledge to a high standard by actively working with the relevant internal EDM teams
  • Identification and building of relationships with potential partners on the various markets to boost sales
  • Attendance to key market conferences
  • Education and experience

  • Candidates are likely to be degree educated
  • Candidates will have proven sales experience which will ideally have been gained from a financial software background
  • Recent experience selling in to South East Asia clients, preferably including clients in Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Taiwan and / or Thailand
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in parallel whilst maintaining excellent attention to detail
  • Proven track record in generating own pipeline from cold calls
  • Ability to meet internal / external deadlines
  • Ability to listen, learn quickly and demonstrate initiative
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes; Outlook / Word / Excel / Powerpoint
  • Knowledge of Salesforce is beneficial
  • Commercial awareness

  • Must be a proactive individual, eager to promote the product on the market
  • Fully masters the end to end sales process for complex financial software solutions
  • Management requirements

  • Should show a keen interest and appetite to take on more responsibilities in the future by learning from the existing team
  • Able to organise self and others including effective scheduling, prioritisation and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in parallel, completing tasks to tight deadlines
  • Clearly establishes and communicates expectations and accountabilities

  • Must be credible and confident in a high-pressure environment and be able to manage direct client interaction
  • Displays a resilient and adaptable style, track record of remaining calm in demanding circumstances,
  • Understand how to adjust his own strategy to respond to changing market conditions and client priorities

  • Good communication skills both written and verbal required for complex commercial and business discussions
  • Fluency in English is essential for business purposes
  • Fluency in another SEA language preferred for business purposes and client interaction (e.g. Mandarin, Cantonese, Malay, Thai, Bahasa)
  • Teamwork

  • Works collaboratively with others to achieve group goals and objectives.
  • Team player and willing to progress in a rapidly changing environment
