Director, APAC Business Development

We seek a highly motivated experienced hire to join the Loan Platforms business in the APAC region, based out of either Singapore or Hong Kong.

The individual will lead our regional initiative to increase business in our existing platform for secure document distribution, while also developing a market for the rest of our loan solutions.

Loan Platforms is a highly successful global business, providing technology and workflow solutions for corporate loans. Our clients are all the top global banks, asset managers, custodians, trustees and other third parties.

Users of our platforms include front, middle and back office personnel, who interact with each other, our data and our workflows in order to operate at scale in a highly complex and often manual environment.

Current clients in the region are largely legacy clients of our secure deal rooms platform, Debtdomain. Leveraging those existing relationships, the successful candidate will develop additional business, in particular for trade settlement in our ClearPar platform.

The candidate will collaborate with local leadership, sales and account management to identify and introduce regional opportunities to other areas of the firm, including our WSO loan software and services franchise.

The successful candidate will possess :

  • Top leadership skills : an inclusive, approachable and non-territorial leader
  • Experience in syndicated loans and the structural / market forces impacting the asset class
  • Familiarity with regional markets and customs as well as knowledge of local market participants.
  • Understanding of technology solutions and their impact on the loan asset class
  • Highly effective communication skills; able to communicate at all levels of the organization internally and externally
  • Strong adherence to our corporate culture, values and principles
  • Skills and expertise :

  • Managerial experience, including all aspects of interviewing, hiring and firing as well as hands-on training experience
  • A deep understanding of the loan asset class as well as our clients' needs, operational models and priorities.
  • Quick to grasp the connections between our various products and platforms, and explain the value proposition to existing and prospective clients.
  • Maintain a high degree of customer contact and develop close and collaborative relationships with market participants, including trade associations and other third parties.
  • Work independently and intensely, yet collaborate with the global team and follow business priorities
  • Identify sales opportunities for the wider IHS Markit organization and where applicable, provide introductions
