Job Summary

The JAPAC Cloud Engineering Center of Excellence (CE CoE) is a new regional organisation across Japan and Asia Pacific whose role is to accelerate consumption of Oracle Cloud Services by providing a world-class customer experience on the Oracle Cloud.

Customers will have access to cutting edge and deep technical subject matter expertise and solutions. The CoE is organized by Technology Domains such as Infrastructure, Packaged Applications, Custom Applications, Data Management, Security, Analytics and others, which will provide relevant subject matter expertise in engagements. The primary goal of these teams is to move customer workloads to production environments to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) for Strategic customer implementations and for the Pitch to Production (P2P) initiative.

We’re seeking exceptional candidates for the JAPAC CoE Security Domain. Oracle cloud customers are high profile targets – they are banks, public sector agencies, transportation and utility companies who need trusted security advisors.   • Strong hands-on network, compute and storage security background.
  • Extensive cloud engineering, design and automation experience on OCI or other major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP or AliCloud. (architect certification required). Ability to script in python or other common language. Experience with J2EE, LDAP, REST and SSL. Fluent in CICD tooling and automation capabilities. Experience in cloud native technologies a must. (docker, Kubernetes, open-source toolsets)
  • Experience hardening IT systems against attacks and implementing corrective controls.
  • Knowledge of Layer 4-7 protocols including TCP, UDP, AH, ESP, TLS, SSL, HTTP, HTTPS, DNS, SNMP, SMTP, IPV6, SSH, DNS tools such as BIND, GSLB, BIG-IP DNS, and tech such as load balancers and (WAF) Web Application Firewalls.
  • CISSP, CEH or other security certification desired.
  • Key Management, HSM, experience with both synchronous and asynchronous encryption in cloud-based services is important.
  • Solid understanding of hardening operating systems (Windows and Linux). Oracle, Centos, Red Hat and Kali Linux experience will be valuable.
  • Experience in ethical hacking, threat modeling, log analysis, intrusion detection/prevention protocols
  • Experience with identity and authentication management principles and technology.
  • Functional Core

  • Align Oracle security and identity solutions with industry standards/frameworks, and cloud deployment best practices.
  • Focused on communicating best practices; train and evangelize field teams and customers on how to securely migrate and deploy enterprise workloads. Evaluate / architect cloud security solutions to address security gaps / problems. Recommend changes to existing controls and systems. Provide creative and innovative solutions that bridge the gap between requirements and OCI capabilities. Participate in full solutions lifecycle including engaging with key business stakeholders to understand requirements, performing business analysis and relaying feedback to OCI development teams to improve future offerings.
  • Evangelize security and application solutions and controls by creating and communicating presentations both internally and externally.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, plugged into the cybersecurity community, strong and effective social media presence, highly comfortable speaking across all levels of management and to technical audiences
  • Able to go hands on and participate in service delivery; guiding, teaching, and building trust.

  • Roles and Responsibilities

  • Deliver successful Customer Engagements leading to increased consumption Collaborate with the cloud architects in the field to define the scope and deliverables of the customer implementations and deliver them as part of a virtual team Support the cloud architect in describing the proposed workload migration to the customer thereby gaining their confidence. Ensure the work delivered is of the highest quality and to the deadlines committed. Leverage reference architectures and associated assets to automate as much of the migration as possible. Actively participate in the team meetings undertaking the migration using an Agile methodology Transfer skills to customer, partner or other delivery organizations during the migration to ensure a seamless customer experience post the involvement of the CoE team
  • Thought Leadership and Evangelism Continuously invest in deepening domain skills by taking relevant training courses Work closely with HQ Development to gain early competence in new domain solutions. Have a deep understanding of the competitors equivalent cloud offerings and OCI competitive differentiators Speak at industry events and seminars
  • Cross-collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement Work closely and collaboratively as one team with other CoE Infrastructure team members, field cloud architects and other domains within the CoE. Contribute to the relevant Communities of Practice (CoP) to foster better collaboration between CoE and the Field Identify and develop team assets (white papers, blogs, slack support, reference architectures, and software migration components) to help other groups gain relevant experience in deploying their domain solutions on OCI.
  • Governance & Reporting Complete all relevant certifications and other mandatory enablement Fully understand and leverage the systems in place to support customer workload migrations and other strategic engagements. Provide timely status updates and other reports as required.

  • Detailed Description and Job Requirements

    Partners with customers, sales, engineering and product teams to design, demonstrate and deploy Oracle Cloud architectures that address customer business problems. Drives Oracle Cloud customer consumption by accelerating the adoption of Oracle cloud services including discovery, design and deployment.

    Engages with strategic customers, builds leadership relationships at multiple levels within organizations in order to design and implement solutions. Works directly with customers to gather requirements, develop architectures and translates business needs into solutions. May implement solutions and ensure successful deployments through code development and scripting. Displays product/application understanding through highly customized presentation demonstrations to customers, and at conferences, and events. Supports customer from Proof of Concept (POC) through production deployment of services via resource configuration, planning, and customer education/training. Creates and distributes technical assets (white papers, solution code, blog posts, and video demonstrations). Serves as a leading contributor for customers and sales on technical cloud solutions and customer success. Identifies gaps and enhancements to influence engineering roadmaps for customer driven features. Leading contributor, may provide direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. May interact with C level. Maintains expertise by staying current on emerging technologies.

    Minimum qualifications include: 8 years experience with computer applications and tools required. Ability to travel 50% international and domestic. Preferred but not required qualifications include: Bachelor of Science-level university degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering from accredited university; and/or relevant 8 years technical experience. Advanced degree in relevant field of studies highly desirable. Expertise in and an in depth and thorough knowledge of competitive and industry knowledge in the field of computer applications and tools; System and application design; Implementation of advanced product features; Project management; Solving technical problems with customers in technical environments; Written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills; Needs analysis, positioning, and business justification. 8 years experience and expertise in the clear communication of technical information to others through presentations, demonstrations, written communication and consultative solutioning experience.
