Job Description

This position is responsible for pre-season merchandise financial plans, category and assortment analytics, sizing curves, flow planning, and in-season financial forecasts and promotional / markdown activity.

The Retail Planner is responsible for :

  • Supporting the Retail Planning Lead in developing the top-down, merchandise financial plan
  • Developing the bottom-up merchandise financial plan and store spread for a product category(s)
  • Completing assortment analytics as inputs to the development of seasonal category strategies and assortment plans developed by Retail Buying
  • Analyzing and creating seasonal size curves
  • Developing the seasonal product flow plan, with support from the Retail Analyst team
  • Identifying the in-season open to buy actions required to meet plans, setting and facilitating pre-forecasting meetings, etc
  • Recommending and reviewing markdown and promotion opportunities
  • Achieving the key performance metrics for a product category(s)
  • Consistently monitoring the business through analytics and identifying actions to achieve the key performance metrics
  • Understanding the key connectivity and interactions required for all business process steps
  • The Retail Planner will partner with the Retail Buyer by :

  • Sharing consumer and industry trends and insights
  • Supporting the Visual Merchandising team on space planning
  • Reviewing production order adjustments as needed (along with Operations Forecasting & Planning)
  • Participating in buy meetings
  • The Retail Planner may be required to :

  • Participate in store visits (internal) and competitor market visits (external) to understand retail trends and consumer needs
  • As requested, support Retail Planning Coordinators in their development of process knowledge and skills through coaching and job assistance
  • Knowledge, Skills & Behaviors Required ( Display )

  • Strong analytical skills and attention-to-detail
  • Ability to analyze and interpret a high amount of data and identify the implications and required actions
  • Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to identify actions and make decisions to resolve issues with a sense of urgency
  • Advanced working knowledge in MS Excel
  • Advanced skills in numerical and quantitative analysis
  • Retail and product knowledge in the key markets within Asia
  • Ability to identify fashion trends
  • Strong organization and planning skills; ability to deliver results to a process and timeline
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to turn data and analytics into information to inform and influence decision-making
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration with cross functional teams
  • Ability to interact and communicate with all levels of employees both senior and junior
  • Experience in SAP and retail planning software preferred

  • Education / Qualifications

  • College degree or above Experience (Years)
  • Minimum 3-5 years or above in retail industry
  • Language

  • Good spoken English and preferably, one Asian Language
