    We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Senior Manager, IFRS 17 Finance Implementation .

    Principal responsibilities

    The role holder will be a senior member of the IFRS 17 implementation team and will report to the Head of Financial Control.

    The role holder will be responsible for engagement with the Groups IFRS 17 programme in respect of the development and implementation of a new target operating model for all aspects of financial reporting, including the integration of actuarial and accounting processes under a single integrated reporting function.

    The role holder will need to critically assess all elements of the current end to end financial control, accounting and capital management processes and initiatives as well as all actuarial dependencies, and identify opportunities to improve and streamline those processes in preparation for IFRS 17 implementation.

    It is expected that many aspects of the IFRS 17 operating model could be implemented well in advance of the new standard to realise efficiencies and control improvements.

    An important interim deliverable, which will facilitate IFRS 17 implementation, will be the successful implementation of a new investment accounting process.

    The role holder will build on an existing detailed knowledge of life insurance products, insurance accounting including IFRS 17, and financial processes, and will have experience in dealing with stakeholders within both the Finance function and the wider business.

    The role will be extremely varied in terms of its activities and scope. It will require an adaptable and driven individual who is prepared to manage change while maintaining a strong financial controllership mind set.

    It will be necessary to robustly review current accounting and reporting practice and procedures with a view to improving practice in the short to medium term under current accounting requirements, and ultimately implementing IFRS 17.

    The role holder will need to work closely with all of the Global and Hong Kong IFRS 17 implementation project work streams to ensure that all solutions developed are fit for purpose and maximise operational efficiency.

    The Chief Actuary and underlying actuarial teams will also be key stakeholders.

    Strong engagement will be needed with the emerging technical interpretations of the IFRS 17 standard. Impact analysis will need to be performed from a financial and implementation perspective.

    Interactions with other standards and local regulatory reporting requirements will also need to be considered.


    Knowledge and understanding of financial accounting and reporting of insurance financial statements

    Familiarity with life insurance products and accounting frameworks, including insurance operational accounting and financial controllership processes.

    Proven track record of managing financial accounting and reporting change transformation, including the development of new processes and control frameworks

    Strong working knowledge of IFRS 17 requirements.

    Excellent leadership and communication skills, ideally with prior experience working in an international environment

    Ability to manage multiple stakeholders, both internal and external, and conflicting priorities.
