The Biosciences Central Research Facility (BioCRF) at the HKUST is a core facility that provides cutting edge technologies in biological research.
We are currently seeking candidates with experience in bioinformatics.
The appointee will support various computational analyses within the BioCRF. He / She will work in an inter-disciplinary field that brings together data science with biology.
Duties include analyzing data sets using existing open-source tools, developing and deploying custom-made scripts or programs that integrate with other tools, maintaining good records of the analyses performed, and attending project meetings as needed.
Applicants should have a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, preferably with relevant work experience.
Proficiency with Linus-based systems and shell scripting, including troubleshooting software installation, deployment and execution, is required.
Candidates should also possess additional programming skills including Perl, Python, and R., good organizational skills with an appreciation of software engineering practices, and strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
They should be able to communicate effectively in English, complete tasks with aggressive timeline and work independently.
Interest in the life sciences field would be beneficial. Applications for a Junior Technical Officer position are also welcome from candidates who demonstrate potential.
