As operation intern of The CastleGate International Supply Chain, You will be part of a team that partners with Wayfair’s in-market inventory teams, network management teams, and suppliers in North America, Europe and Asia to grow their business by leveraging our Asia Logistics capabilities to ensure availability of products at the right time / place and at an optimized cost and able to take over real responsibility and experience a steep learning curve.

Roles and responsibilities :

  • Manage a single site / a region of container consolidation facilities in Asia and be responsible for their performance
  • Create Container consolidation plans by running optimization of supplier requirements, inventory on hand and other metrics / constraints incl.
  • container utilization, dwell, destination sales forecast etc.

  • Communicate with CFS / Ocean agents / internal teams to ensure follow-through on replenishment orders and inventory commitments and to enable best real time decisions
  • Merge disparate datasets and create data tables to enable dashboard monitoring of metrics for reporting as well as daily operations
  • Support tech roadmap building and tool development (incl. defining product requirement, logic build, user acceptance test) to drive improvements in the end-to-end logistics systems, data, and processes;
  • including light modeling to validate hypotheses and de-risk engineering and data science investments

  • Drive root cause analysis / reporting on operational issues, developing action plans and project managing improvements
  • Conduct research, quantitative analyses and build business models and prioritization matrices to drive decisions and development of value-added service (e.
  • g. supplier product performance analysis; origin milk-run optimization)

  • Align teams (Operations, Ocean, CFS etc.) to ensure strong execution and to understand and manage the drivers that impact operational execution

  • Qualifications :

  • University Student in Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information System, Business, Mathematics or a Supply Chain / Operations discipline
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, and proficiency with SQL (or a system of equal complexity) / Python required
  • Strong quantitative experience, with the ability to conduct statistical analysis, generate insights and solutions or build a story and strategy from large data sets.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to lead discussions and communicate effectively
  • High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
  • Analytical, creative, and innovative approach to solving problems

    Ability to work with people in a cross-functional environment

  • Proficient in spoken and written English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua)
  • Applicants for Hong Kong office should be permanent Hong Kong resident or holder of a valid Hong Kong student visa with no objection letter
