As our global footprint continues to grow, we are looking for a VP, Asia Pacific. This role ensures UL success within the Asia Region by partnering with the business to deliver sustainable strategic growth by driving customer-centric commercial excellence and a unified One UL’ approach.
What you’ll learn & achieve :
Establish and implement cross-divisional strategies to grow and maintain UL prominence across the seven Asia Sub-Regions : China / HK, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, MEA, ASEAN / ANZ, and South Asia in close collaboration and full alignment with Revenue Management.
Oversee the development and execution of commercial strategies that enable TIC and E&A expansion throughout UL in close collaboration and full alignment with Revenue Management.
Lead region-level implementation of UL strategic imperatives.
Guide targeted engagement of government regulatory agencies and key industry associations.
Supply M&A / strategic partnership scanning support and support local integration activities.
Supply input to regional footprint strategies.
Acts as primary commercial leader, brand ambassador, and ground-level face of UL throughout the Region.
Support Revenue Management to establish in the Asia Region a world-class commercial team that executes upon a global UL commercial framework with a tailored, local-market approach.
Develop new, particularly local customer relationships as well as strengthen and grow existing relationships with customers and agents aligned with Alpha strategy.
Increase UL’s share of existing customer spending on their certification, performance testing and related needs.
Facilitate development of local-for-local services, and target opportunities aligned with Alpha strategy.
Strengthen and grow relationships with the Government, key regulators, industry associations, standards / certification organizations and other stakeholders, ensuring UL is well represented in all external stakeholder forums.
Promote and champion brand-building initiatives.
Oversee the creation and deployment of local leadership development programs, partnering with ULU.
Ensure region-wide application of employee health / safety protocols and EHS compliance.
Provide single point of ownership for site leadership in region, oversee site management activities and build and maintain site leader network within region.
Attend Leadership and Board meetings, and present strategies and business plans.
Incorporate Leadership and Board meeting feedback.
Establish personal relationships and build trusted credibility with Board members, UL leaders, and global personnel.
Oversee local partnerships with Government Affairs to maintain influential relationships with government and regulatory stakeholders.
Build and develop close alliances with key industry associations.
Interact with key customers and influential stakeholders throughout the seven Asia Sub-Regions.
Attend industry events and network with key customers and influential stakeholders.
What makes you a great fit :
Bachelor’s degree (required - Engineering or related discipline preferred)
MBA or equivalent (preferred)
Lean Six Sigma certification (preferred)
Strong business and financial acumen
Analytical and problem-solving skills
Technological savvy (e.g., the impact of technology on UL, products / services, and customers)
Ability to identify opportunities and drive growth through various business models
Proven ability to execute and deliver results
Minimum 10 years’ experience leading complex commercial functions; strong preference for an individual that has had P&L ownership;
experience in Sales, Marketing, and / or Analytics preferred
Minimum 10 years’ experience building, managing, and developing high-performing, cross-functional teams
Experience working within a diverse, global environment
Experience with global cultures, markets, business practices, and regulatory climates
Experience with complex customer interactions, products, and services
Experience with M&A
Experience managing and delivering clear, impactful communications to internal and external stakeholders
Experience leading significant organizational change
