About the role
The Hong Kong Product Development Center (HKPDC) Engineering Manager will lead a team of 15+ engineers based in Hong Kong and also drive the work of contractors working on the project based in Asia as well as coordinate with peer engineering teams based in the US and Europe.
The manager’s role will span back-end, mobile and device including direct development of mobile and back-end features.

Coordination with existing Fitbit services such as identity and data export
As Engineering Manager for the HKPDC team you will :
Lead, manage and develop a mix of Backend, Android and iOS engineers, as well as SRE and QA EngineersWork cross -functionally with Development Engineering, Product Management, Program Management, Research and Design across simultaneous projects.
Work with and help drive software integration and delivery with internal teams and external partners / vendors in San Francisco, Bucharest and Beijing.
Work with the team to develop and deliver cross-platform interactive features (mobile client UX and the backend services that support them) according to SDLC and SW Engineering best practices, including but not limited to : Requirements gatheringEstimation and project planningExecution within an iterative agile development processUnified Engineering + QA ownership of Quality on the teamDisciplined release, monitoring, and maintenance of all features.
Until their deprecation)Iterative software development methodologies such as : prototyping first and quickly, live user experimentation, data collection and data-driven decision making Coordinate test strategies, best practices and reporting.
Work with the team to determine the overall testing strategy, including the optimal balance of automated vs. manual QA, with a goal of greatly increasing automation coverage over time Have an opportunity to expand your scope of influence to provide engineering leadership across many teams & departments at Fitbit (through leadership, influence, and promotion of best practices within Fitbit in general.)
