About the Role
We are looking for a Senior In-House Commercial Lawyer to join our APAC in-house legal team. As a member of the legal team you will work closely and be seen as a true partner to our sales, go-to-market, sales operations, procurement, marketing, HR, compliance and corporate teams to give advice at all levels of the organization and lead legal negotiations.
Our ideal Commercial Lawyer will be someone who has experience and passion in working in SaaS organizations. This role will report to the Head of Legal, APAC and can be based in Singapore, Hong Kong, or Mainland China.
What will you be doing?
Draft, review and negotiate customer SaaS / cloud service / cloud subscription agreements.
Support the sales team with customer contracts.
Be a trusted advisor to the sales team.
Advise the business on key contractual terms to collaboratively assess legal and business risks within Meltwater’s business and the market standard.
Draft, review and negotiate agreements with our vendors and suppliers, including marketing, procurement and content license agreements.
Review and respond to tenders / RFPs.
Draft, review and negotiate agreements with our partners and resellers.
Support the HR team.
Provide support for regulatory compliance and corporate governance.
Coach and support other lawyers within the legal team.
Develop creative solutions and provide effective legal advice on day-to-day matters with a pragmatic and business centric focus.
Advance legal and business practices by driving new approaches and process improvements.
Develop internal processes to improve our ability to scale the legal support we provide.
We’re Looking For :
Law degree (J.D. or equivalent) from a leading university and law school.
Licensed to practice law in China and / or the US, UK or other common law jurisdiction.
8 or more years of legal experience
4+ years’ in the commercial or technology department of a top tier / leading law firm.
4+ years’ experience in-house in a SaaS / cloud service company.
Strong SaaS / cloud service experience.
Fluent in written and spoken English and Mandarin (Cantonese highly regarded)
A proven track-record of working effectively and supporting the sales team, exercising sound business judgment and being solution-oriented.
An awareness of regulatory compliance within China.
Ability to balance a high volume of legal matters in a timely and effective manner.
An independent self-starter .
Strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative nature, and the ability to work and communicate cross-functionally
A team player who values client / customer service and professionalism.
Experience in coaching and supporting other lawyers.
Strong leadership skills.
