We are currently seeking a highly qualified and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join an established and well respected international school group with it'
s head office based in Hong Kong. We are looking for a qualified accountant with 12 to 15 years experience with at least 5 years at management level.
The role will involve managing a small finance team. Experience in system and process improvement is preferred.
Job purpose (Overview)
The Chief Financial Officer is the executive in charge of leading the strategic financial operations of the school, including financial reporting, and projecting, financial systems (accounting or otherwise), audit coordination, and school budget management.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Administrative control and supervision of all business and financial operations of the school
To develop the annual operating budget and structuring and maintaining a long-range financial model for the school
To plan and direct financial operations, including accounting, audit, budget, risk management, payroll, purchasing & contracting, records management, and data / policy analysis
Serving a key role in the employee and vendor contract processes as well as in legal matters and employee benefits
Month-to-month management of the operating budget and working with all school departments to ensure expenses are managed efficiently and the budget is achieved
Preparing for the annual audit of the school’s finances
Strategic financial forecasting : projecting revenue; identifying opportunities to strengthen the school's financials;
and preparing financial models to inform and support leadership decision making.
Providing expertise and internal consultation regarding financial activities and overseeing the preparation, administration, and control of the budget;
providing guidance to internal leadership, including the Head of School
Creating and executing programs, assuring compliance with laws and regulations relating to all school business functions, including construction, and financial accounting and analyzing
In addition to your normal duties, you are expected to perform, without additional compensation, such reasonable non-academic and extracurricular staff duties as may be assigned to you from time to time.

The ability to work positively and collaboratively with different groups within the school to advance the institution’s financial future and stability
Proven sound business judgment and overall financial acumen as well as effective strategic, analytical and problem-solving skills

Strong personal skills, approachability, good humor and team-oriented
An understanding of the financial and strategic decisions that are encountered in a not-for-profit institution
The ability to envision, articulate, advance, and implement effective approaches to balancing competing financial needs within the institution.
A minimum of 4, preferably 6+, years experience in a senior role.
Qualifications in Accounting, Finance or Business.
Up to date knowledge of current financial and accounting computer applications.
