The Job

  • Oversees multiple-shift operations of the fresh produce, meat and seafood processing / production department
  • Ensure the Fresh Food production expenses are within the defined budget and achieve targets. Identifies opportunities for enhanced cost reduction, yield optimization, operational safety, and quality improvements
  • Ensures adherence to all company standards regarding product quality and food safety practices working the quality assurance
  • Monitors the hygiene and food safety in the operations, the plant and facilities and to ensure the production processes within HACCP regime and satisfactory by audit
  • Minimizes yields lost while maintaining high quality standard on both packaging and product itself and to ensure picking and dispatching in time
  • Monitors raw material and packaging inventories to ensure adequate supply and freshness (rotation) to support production requirements and be able to communicate with commercial team, store counter meat specialists and supplier plants for continuous improvement including product specification, production flow and food cold chain
  • Maintains a visible presence on the plant floor to monitor machine operations and provide technical guidance during all production and sanitation phases
  • Embrace a high regard for safety. Observe all Company safety policies and procedures
  • Manages all Production personnel, to include training, development, and performance management of all supervisory and hourly employees
  • The Person

  • Bachelor degree in Food Science, Management, Operations, Industrial engineering, other closely related fields or commensurate experiences
  • 10 years+ relevant working experience, 8 of which will have been at management level
  • Plant Management experience in food manufacturing (strongly preferred)
  • Experience in food industry, especially in meat, seafood and produce, plus fresh cut production environment to include production management
  • Extensive knowledge of process controls, product flow, inventory control, quality assurance protocols, equipment optimization and supply chain management
  • Knowledge of manufacturing systems, including BOMs, routings, capacity, work orders and inventory control
  • Knowledge of GMPs, PC, HACCP, EMP, OSHA, FDA, and USDA regulations
  • Ability to develop key manufacturing performance indicators and metrics and promote & communicate to management all critical production data
  • Strong process improvement background and change management skills
  • Direct experience with production, procurement, and production & warehouse management enterprise software solutions
  • Strong analytical and process management skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret business needs and translate them into application and operational requirement Excellent organizational and planning skills, attention to detail and thorough desire for continuous improvement
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines within specified time constraints
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
