Your field of responsibility

Your responsibilities include :

  • Negotiating OTC, listed derivatives and other trading agreements (e.g., entity specific terms and conditions, electronic trading agreements, commission sharing agreements, clearing agreements, ISDA documentation, prime brokerage terms, custody agreements, stock borrowing and lending agreements and repurchase agreements) and advising on all transactional and regulatory issues relevant to such agreements
  • Providing day-to-day legal advisory support to the Equity trading and sales desks on legal and regulatory issues in respect of equity transactions and related services across the Asia Pacific region, including advising on new regulations which may impact such activities
  • Assisting with the Bank’s advocacy and representation in key industry working groups (e.g., ISDA, ASIFMA)
  • Contributing legal input to business-led projects
  • Drafting tailored legal documentation, where required
  • Analyzing and reviewing jurisdictional requirements and regulatory changes
  • Working closely with Compliance and other internal partners in relation to market / regulatory developments and client contracts
  • Liaising with external counsel

    As a member of this team, you will have a unique opportunity to explore and understand the depth and breadth of the entire APAC Equities business, including Cash Equities, Securities Research and Prime Services.

    While the ideal candidate will already have experience providing legal and regulatory advice in each of those areas, this collaborative team has an established track record of providing support and training for team members to succeed.

    Your skills and experience

    To excel in this role, you should possess :

  • 4-7 years post-qualification experience, including experience in a reputable law firm
  • Equity derivatives expertise and experience would be advantageous (including a background in Hong Kong securities and derivatives laws and regulations)
  • Outstanding drafting and communication skills
  • Proven ability to identify, assess and summarize legal, regulatory, commercial and operational risks
  • Proven team-player who is also able to work independently in a fast-paced environment that requires personnel to balance multiple transactions and projects simultaneously
  • Result oriented, dedicated, hardworking who can work on own initiative and can deliver on time under pressure with a high level of integrity and flexibility, sense of urgency, attention to detail and quality standards
