The Head of Business Risk, Asia-Pacific is responsible for overseeing the regional management of corporate enterprise risks, business resilience activities and providing guidance to business practitioners.
They are responsible for ensuring that the business suitably adheres to the firm’s risk management policies and practices, including staying within the company’s risk tolerances.
This Head of Business Risk, APAC sets priorities and allocates resources to align with enterprise risk, business resilience and regional strategic business objectives.
The ideal candidate has an expert understanding of enterprise risk frameworks and regulation, operational risk best practices in investment management, security, business, and operational resilience concepts.
The Head of Business Risk, Asia-Pacific is consulted on questions related to risk and risk acceptance decisions and serves as an escalation point for complex issues or roadblocks, and shepherds issues through to resolution.
The candidate will be appointed as the Manager-In-Charge for 2nd line Risk Management in Hong Kong and Senior Manager under IAC in Singapore.
This person will also be responsible for managing a small team.
Enterprise Risk, Operational & Business Risk
Oversees and develops appropriate risk governance structures for region. Leads efforts to develop a strong organizational risk culture, to further develop the function's effectiveness as a second line of defense, and to influence and ensure business adherence with the enterprise risk management framework and policies.
Manages the development and implementation of comprehensive risk assessment program to ensure that key risks within the organization are regularly assessed.
Develops options for solutions to test with management in order to address risks as effectively as possible. Works with leadership to develop policies or procedures aimed at reducing or mitigating significant risks, and appropriately escalates issues to the relevant senior leadership as needed.
Develops quick rapport with key stakeholders and uses long-standing, strong relationships with senior roles across all three lines of defense to drive the timely completion of risk-related deliverables and issue resolution.
Oversees the application of and adherence to the risk framework policies, processes, measures, and limits. Establishes protocols for enforcing and monitoring compliance, assigns routine monitoring responsibilities to supporting Risk team members.
Oversees the development of data-driven reporting and insights to advise senior management in their decision-making processes.
Is consulted by regional management on complex new business and change initiatives. Takes a commercial lens toward assurance work by bringing insights based on best practices and extensive industry experience.
Engages in innovative thought leadership to evolve and mature risk processes for the firm.
Business / Operational Resilience
Partners with the APAC Regional Operating Officer and Global Head of Business Resilience on strategy, objectives, policies, and plans for security and business / operational resilience.
Coordinates with business leadership to ensure alignment with overall business strategy.
Supports the development of the business / operational resilience strategy based on understanding of security and business continuity risks integrated with external best practices and market trends.
Oversees implementation of operational resilience protocols and standards. Understands impact on business practices and identifies gaps in partnership with the operational / business risk program.
Serves as expert consultant to business leadership to advise on unprecedented issues and recommends approach for mitigation.
Oversees the region’s corporate incident activities and outcomes when there is a business disruption.
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES / SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications :
Master’s degree and / or bachelor’s degree and combination of post-graduate and / or professional certifications (accounting, FRM, CFA, etc.)
15+ years of total relevant work experience
