We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Programme Director .

Principal responsibilities

  • The Programme Director works with key stakeholders to deliver organizational strategy, governing the direction and conduct of Programme management, including application of appropriate methodologies.
  • Plans, directs, and co-ordinates activities to manage and implement complex programmes from contract / proposal initiation to full integration with "business as usual".

    Aligns the programme objectives with business objectives and authorizes the selection and planning of all related projects and activities in accordance with business priorities and approvals.

    Plans, schedules, monitors, and reports on activities related to the programme, ensuring that there are appropriate and effective governance arrangements, supported by comprehensive reporting and communication.

  • Leads change initiation, design and delivery and accountable for successful delivery of the programme and ensuring benefits realisation.
  • They operate at an executive level and engage and influence a wide spectrum of stakeholders and partners across HSBC and 3rd Parties, including Global, regional and country CEO, COO and CIOs.

  • Programme Director will have direct and indirect reports, these will be Senior Programme and Project Management professionals, including roles such as Chief Technology officers, Chief Architects and engineers, IT COOs
  • The IT Programme Director role will hold most or all of these responsibilities :
  • Drive strategy and shape the programme approach across a series of projects or component activities, building stakeholder buy-
  • in around plans, commitments and changes.

  • Drive programme delivery proactively, balancing scope, schedule, interdependencies, budget and risks.
  • Lead definition of staffing, responsibilities and schedules.
  • Lead the establishment of effective programme controls and procedures, building on established Bank processes and tools
  • Set high expectations concerning quality and put in place quality assurance processes.
  • Contribute to management of relationships with external suppliers.
  • Report progress, issues, dependencies and risks to steering committees and make recommendations to influence decision making in order to maintain progress towards delivery and benefits realisation.
  • Provide visible leadership to maintain a focus on how the programme aligns to the change portfolio across Finance .
  • Drive the adoption of HSBC standards and work in alignment with HSBC methodology at all times.
  • Lead the team to meet performance targets aligned to programme objectives.
  • Requirements

  • Experience in technology, specifically within project and programme management
  • Experience working in financial services within Tier 1 banking Global organization or similar complex organization in terms of technology use, scope and scale.
  • Large scale, high profile programmes with IT budgets over $20M
  • Experience in successfully designing efficient, secure and complex systems.
  • In-depth experience of working with relational and non-relational databases.
  • Experience with programme management for front to back systems (UX, UI, Front end development and APIs interfacing to more legacy based back end host systems)
  • Experience in working with cloud-based technology and solutions (including GCP, Azure and AWS)
  • Experience in establishing and operating proper frameworks and working practices for programme management, software development, product and QA teams.
  • Possess knowledge of regulation affecting the distribution channel in the Region(s).
  • Experience of SaaS / white-label, B2B and B2C solutions delivery.
  • Significantly distributed organisational structures
  • Settings that are matrix managed with large groups of stakeholders to engage and manage
  • Multi-vendor and scaled agile environments
  • University graduate preferably with a degree in Technology Management or similar discipline
  • The chosen candidate for this role will be required to undergo enhanced vetting. Subject to local laws, this will require the individual to satisfactorily pass a series of additional checks as part of the recruitment process and on an ongoing basis, if appointed to the role.
