Department Description

The APAC Product Group is part of the Global Product Group, which leads the development and delivery of FIL’s Global Product Strategy.

The APAC Product Group has a clear mandate to provide a high-quality product strategy that supports local and regional distribution strategies and positions FIL’s APAC Business for growth in an evolving and competitive environment.

The development, iteration, and syndication of our product strategies will transpire through effective collaboration with our distribution teams, our investment teams as well as with a range of additional internal and external stakeholders.

The APAC Product Group also takes responsibility for product related decision making, life-cycle range management responsibilities as well as product related governance and thought leadership.

Purpose of the Role

You will form part of a fast-paced APAC Product Development Group that drives the business towards future asset and revenue growth through development and implementation of investment solutions for intermediary, institutional as well as direct customers.

We are looking for a candidate who will engage in all aspects of product development including new capability creation and product launches, ongoing range management including repurposes and closures, and share class innovation.

Working in close partnership with the Asian Product Delivery & the wider Fidelity International teams, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing and leading key product initiatives across all phases of the product life-cycle, including reshaping and introduction of new capabilities and product features.

The role will support the product development process at a global level, ensuring that Asia requirements are clearly inputted into key strategic projects.

The candidate will have strong communication and persuasion skills capable of building consensus among multiple internal stakeholders with potentially contrasting priorities and timeframes.

She / he will be able to support & continuously refine product processes and procedures that are scalable, efficient and fast-to-market.

Clear leadership in the form of rigorous project management, clear communication of common goals across multiple groups, standardised delivery expectations and transparent and effective monitoring of the overall process will be essential factors for success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project management and support implementation of cross-border product development initiatives, dedicated to our Asian distribution channels and investment teams.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships through direct engagement and collaboration with the product delivery, distribution, investment management, product legal and other teams in Asia and across the region to help manage and deliver cross-border initiatives.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the Asia Private Banking and Hong Kong / South East Asia asset management landscapes to introduce new capabilities which support business growth in these regions.
  • Manage the agenda preparation and tracking of action items for strategic product governance forums with business stakeholders in the APAC region.
  • Produce regular market insight and competitor analysis reports to be presented at regional forums and to be used as a tool for Distribution teams to understand competitive positioning.
  • Develop and maintain strong connectivity with the APAC and Global product team to become a respected, trusted and valued member team.
  • Experience and Qualifications Required

    The ideal candidate possesses the following skills and / or experience :

  • Self-starter who is entrepreneurial, flexible, and aggressive who can deliver results and work as a core member of the team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to interact and influence change at all levels within the organisation.
  • Illustrates the capacity and patience to work in a dynamically changing large scale global organization.
  • Possesses a continuous improvement mindset and demonstrates a strong track record of identifying and successfully implementing change in processes.
  • Demonstrates a drive to stay abreast of industry news and regulatory developments to facilitate a more proactive and innovative approach to meeting product-related regulatory requirements.
  • Experience of working on European domiciled products distributed to / dedicated to Asian markets and working with Asian-based teams is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years in Investment, Buy-side Product Development, and / or Investment Consultant experiences.
  • Equivalent of CFA, CAIA, and / or MBA a plus, but not requirement.
