Overview

The APAC COO function provides support to the Asia Regional President and Asia Regional COO to create and manage the infrastructure and governance for Wells Fargo’s lines of business and support functions operating in Asia Pacific.

The APAC COO function is also responsible for managing certain operational aspects of the company and assists the Asia Regional President & Asia Regional COO in the successful management of the Wells Fargo franchise within the Asia Pacific region.

Role

The successful candidate will be part of the APAC COO Business Management and Regional Governance team working closely with senior leaders across many business and functional areas to assist the APAC COO team in delivering the region’s strategy and overseeing the business’s governance frameworks, business operating environments.

Responsibilities

  • Support the APAC COO team to drive execution and implementation of product initiatives through the New Business Initiative (NBI) processes and committee responsible for guiding & monitoring the new product assessments & its periodic review across all APAC lines of business.
  • Follow-up on the progress of the NBI studies and highlight major attention points and risks to regional management. Ensure the opinions and conditions issued are relevant to secure & facilitate the launch of the NBI within Regulatory & Risk requirements

  • Provide front-to-back support and oversight; support the running of business administration processes
  • Establishing strong governance and escalation routines through the formation / administration of, participation in and contribution to various committees
  • Develop and maintain performance metrics
  • Prepare discussion documents, presentations, reports and dashboard for various senior leader meetings
  • Support the development, implementation and monitoring of effective procedures and controls, to promote communication and adequate information flow, and thereby solidify management control and direction of the enterprise.
  • Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the organization
  • Ensures that all activities and operations are performed in compliance with local regulations and laws governing business operations.
  • Ensure that proper governance is exercised consistently across the region
  • Provide support to the APAC COO team on ad hoc initiatives
  • Market Skills and Certifications

    Requirements

  • University degree
  • 5+ years of working in an investment bank / wholesale banking in a business management or operations / finance role with strong business knowledge of Markets, Investment Banking Capitals Markets Advisory (IBCMA)
  • Exposure to investment / commercial banking regulatory environments across Asia Pacific
  • Good expertise of Front to Back trade life cycle (including Risk & Accounting processes)
  • Understanding of banking industry & of how change drives benefits for the organization, its customers and other stakeholders
  • Strong knowledge of operational risk management on all value chain processes trade capture, margining, booking controls, confirmation, settlement, payment, reconciliation, regulatory reporting etc.
  • Proficient multi-tasker with tested experience in managing concurrently multiple day-to-day activities and deliverables
  • Experience in and / or exposure to cross-border business, operational and regulatory environment, particularly in APAC
  • Strong technical with high attention to detail and accuracy, proactive problem solver with strong written, numerical, verbal skills & analytical skillsincluding PowerPoint, excel modeling and Outlook
  • Demonstrate ability to think and communicate strategically
  • Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills, excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to influence and consult strategically across a large organization and with various levels of leadership / stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying / solving risk management, operational, technology and support / infrastructure issues
  • Hard-working, proactive and responsible nature, with strong desire to achieve objectives
  • Strong familiarity with computer applications
  • Strong interest in finance, accounting, and corporate strategy
  • Due to the diversity of team members across the region, native-level spoken and written English is absolutely necessary with Mandarin language skills a plus, but not required
