Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in a relevant field and have extensive research and teaching experience at the tertiary level, with a strong track record of publications and research grants.
The appointee is expected to teach at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supervise research students, conduct high quality scholarly research in the related fields, and assist in administration.
An appointee at the Professor level should be an internationally recognised leader in his / her field and be willing to provide academic leadership relevant to the School of Modern Languages and Cultures and the strategic development of the Faculty of Arts.
The appointee will be expected to contribute to teaching suitable for both the Major in Japanese Studies and the new Major in Global Studies.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed % of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to % of basic salary.
