The School of Continuing and Professional Studies (CUSCS) of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, found in 1965, is a self-

financing unit with the mission to provide quality lifelong education to the community. The School offers a wide variety of courses and programmes in diversified disciplines at city learning centres.

CUSCS now invites applications for Student Counsellor to oversee the operation and development of the School’s Student Counselling and Development Services Section.

Applicants should possess (i) a Master’s degree in counselling, psychology, social work or a related discipline; (ii) at least five years’ relevant post-

  • Master’s working experience; (iii) an excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua);
  • and (iv) experience in working with youth at tertiary level. Applicants who have completed Global Career Development Facilitator training are preferred.

  • The appointee may carry the job title of Head of Student Counselling and Development Services Section (SCDS) and will be required to (a) provide sound leadership to the Section and supervise the professional team;
  • b) provide guidance and counseling services to students; (c) plan, design and conduct developmental programmes; (d) initiate exchange programmes, study tours and service trips to enhance student development;
  • and (e) work with committees, academic heads, programme administrators and teaching staff and act on the welfare of students.

    Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for up to two years, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.

    Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.
