About the Position
We are looking for a senior Onboarding Engineer to join our Order Engines team, working on FIX onboarding and connectivity projects.
You'll be responsible for providing high-quality market access by configuring and deploying our in-house order engines to enable our trading desks to trade new products and exchanges.
The role involves a mix of technical project work and learning our systems and infrastructure through a support rotation.
Jane Street is a place where people come to learn (and eventually to teach!), so while experience of FIX protocol and onboarding is a plus, it is certainly not required.
The majority of your time will focus on our onboarding and connectivity projects. This will involve prioritizing requests from the trading desks, liaising and working with our Developers and external parties, and seeing the onboarding process all the way through to production.
Jane Street is a technical environment and it is necessary to write code of varying levels of complexity to get these projects completed.
Roughly a quarter of your time will be spent on a rotation where you'll monitor the health of Jane Street’s order engines and related systems, dealing with connectivity issues to brokers and trading venues.
This involves liaising with trading desks and Application Developers to help keep our trading running smoothly.
As a senior member of the team, in addition to engaging with these responsibilities in a hands-on way, we expect that you’ll also keep a thoughtful and empathetic perspective on the way in which the team functions and collaborates as a whole.
You’ll generate ideas for how we can develop, improve, and spread our best practices. We'll also look to you for opinions and input on how we approach and deliver project work, as well as how we should interface with other internal teams.
As you become more familiar with the work we do, we hope you'll start to have a role in training and mentoring new colleagues.
