Global Legal plays an important role in protecting the Group’s reputation by helping to future-proof the organisation through robust legal risk and issue advisory.
Responsible for providing comprehensive legal advice to senior management and all global businesses and functions, the team offers a diverse range of legal skills, jurisdictional experience and practice specialisms across all countries and territories in which our businesses operate.
We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Senior Legal Counsel .
To provide expert and professional legal advice, guidance and support to ensure that the legal and reputational risk of the Global Banking business is identified and mitigated.
Within the above context, providing legal and transactional support to the Global Banking business, which will include the following responsibilities, providing technical and practical legal advice in connection with debt finance transactions, based on HSBC internal templates, APLMA or LMA templates and client templates, providing banking regulatory advice and assisting with local, regional and or global initiatives and change programs.
Providing execution expertise including management of external lawyers and external legal costs.
Ability to be innovative and suggest solutions that are pragmatic and commercially sound in addition to being legally sound, aligned with HSBC's strategy and within HSBC's risk parameters.
Coordinating and managing relationships between different external and internal stakeholders, businesses and support functions such as clients, advisors, relationship managers, compliance and risk functions, agency, operations, project managers, external counsel and other third party service providers.
Promoting the adoption of best practice and documentation standards.
Qualified lawyer in appropriate jurisdiction of solid Post Qualification Experience
Strong knowledge and experience with transactional lending, banking regulation and project management
Understanding of cross border financing documentation, market practices and processes, including APLMA and LMA documentation
Ability to prioritise and to work under time pressure
Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
Lateral thinking and problem solving ability
Mandarin skills, in addition to English, strongly preferred
