Category Manager - Technical Design (Woven)

Track and manage work flow, ensuring deadlines are met and prioritizes workload for self and team.
Evaluates workload vs staffing across categories and allocates product in accordance to seasonal shifts.
Conducts seasonal hind sights and communicates findings, learnings and next steps up and out to the different cross functional groups.
Owns product workload as individual contributor as well as managerial duties.
Partners with Director on special projects for every product area in the category.
Owns oversight and governance of tech pack tools (Templates) are being utilized properly on a seasonal basis across specific product areas.
Ensure that budget for fit models is met.
Effectively communicate with cross functional teams to ensure seasonal calendar milestone deliverables are met.
Attend WIP meetings & handoffs for bulk.
Owns follow up and solving Escalation issues that passed down from Director.
Mentor, coach and help train team members.
Create tech packs in PLM for suppliers to properly execute sampling / production to Design intent - This includes specs, patterns, construction sketches and any other necessary tools.
Experience in engineering prints, plaids, stripes, embroidery, beading and novelty fabrics.
Develop PLM block templates for Tech Pack Creation.
Ensure a robust design development handoff takes place with all the appropriate components to build a complete tech pack.
Experience in fitting with live models, sewing, and garment construction within specific categories.
Execute options, mockups and revisions after Design review (i.e. artwork placement, engineered embellishment placement, patchwork, details, etc.)
Partners with Design and PD to offer options to meet design intent and margin targets for new silhouettes
Partner with QA to develop best practices (protocols) on product quality execution and style risk mitigation.
Own & conduct line reviews, proto and stock fittings according to RL standards
Partner with global RL and supplier tech members to ensure execution of complex construction, finishing and fit on specific seasonal styles or programs.
Travel to regional sourcing offices / factories and work with technical teams to calibrate, train, educate, and understand factory capabilities.
Track workload efficiently to meet individual deadlines and pull reporting from PLM when needed.
Partner with QA to conduct risk assessments prior to the bulk production to ensure correct action plans by cross functional partners are taken.

Degree or Certification in Apparel Manufacturing, Design, Patternmaking or equivalent work experience
10+ years in Technical Design
Expertise in patternmaking including draping, grading, sewing, construction and fit for multiple or complex product categories.
Proven ability to successfully oversee a complex category while making product quality and seasonal deliverables a priority.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proven organizational skills and ability manage competing priorities.
Strong sense of urgency, attention to detail & resourcefulness
Responsible and accountable
Ability to proactively problem solve
Knowledge of 3D programs a plus
Computer Skills : Proficiency in com puter pattern programs, computer spec writing programs such as Gerber, PLM, Adobe Illustrator, MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word
