The Role

The role’s primary responsibilities would be to lead the Business Development team to achieve the overall sales target assigned to the Health & Benefits line of business and develop a sales focus culture that promotes cross-selling and up-selling in support of our core Broking business.

As part of the senior executive team, you will also lead strategic client engagements and serve as a trusted advisor to clients in your areas of expertise.

You will also be expected to champion the development, commercialization and implementation of firm wide intellectual capital in Hong Kong.

Performance Objectives :


  • Contribute to the development of plans and budgets, delivering planned performance assigned and ensuring Hong Kong generates revenue, profit and market share growth in accordance with the Hong Kong budget plan
  • Identify opportunities to cross-sell new products and services
  • Coordinate with client management teams to identify, develop and close strategic sales opportunities
  • Build relationships with internal and external parties to maximise the penetration of key target accounts

  • Act as a subject matter expert, ensuring that clients are regularly informed about the implications and opportunities that changing laws and regulations have on their benefits plans
  • Develop your personal profile in the Hong Kong and Macau markets
  • Lead the development, commercialisation and dissemination of firm-wide intellectual capital with respect to benefit plan strategy and management into Hong Kong
  • Ensure appropriate governance and work quality processes are followed on work carried out within the team
  • Contribute to the development of new Health & Benefits tools and approaches within Hong Kong
  • People

  • People management and development : Develop and execute on strategic staffing plans, including all people processes ( recruiting, training and development, goal setting and performance management, employee satisfaction and compensation / bonus recommendations)
  • Oversee the work of associates within the team, identifying where additional technical support may be required
  • Act as a mentor to associates within the team
  • Build relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams
  • Member of Hong Kong H&B Leadership Team; work and collaborate across Lines of Business to meet overall objectives for Hong Kong
  • Clients

  • Lead, manage and participate in multiple client engagements
  • Present quality deliverables to clients
  • Establish a trusted advisor role with clients and provide consistent, superior relationship management
  • Ensure project managers within the team are maintaining progress against established budget, timeline and quality standards
  • Collaborate across Geographies and Lines of Business to effectively pursue and deliver on multi-faceted projects
  • The Requirements

  • Proven ability to generate profitable revenue
  • Significant experience and success in the design / management of group health plans gained in a consulting or brokerage environment;
  • prior experience in underwriting or in an actuarial function gained in a carrier environment preferred

  • Track record of success in managing large client relationships and leading teams
  • Experience in managing multiple people and projects and producing quality deliverables on time and within budget
  • Proven ability to recognize and diagnose issues, work in teams, and leverage the resources of other related practices to address client challenges
  • An executive presence with polished and well developed written and oral communication skills
  • Superior ability to influence and collaborate with senior management and work across all levels of an organization
  • Interest and aptitude in keeping abreast of latest developments in Health & Benefits plan strategy and contributing to the development of new tools and approaches
  • Foreign language skills, other than English and Chinese, is a plus
  • Flexibility with regard to regional travel that can range from 10-30%
  • An undergraduate degree is required; advanced degree preferred
