Central contact person for HQ & Local RRP functions with regards to technical packaging development projects. Acting SPOC interface between R&D Packaging, other RRP functions and external packaging material suppliers as well as manuafcturing sites.
Work closely together with the Project Management team and other RRP functions on new developments. Take over projects for realization after qualification process is finalized.
Responsible for project realization within RRP Packaging for HQ & Local RRP function projects for all packaging materials from concept evaluation / feasibility to FG production, including the related tasks within the PLM system.
Acting final approver of packaging specification & artworks prior to release to supplier / manufacturers. This includes the establishment, provision and validation of all project-related documents (e.
g. dimensional drawings, briefings, material & product specification, BOM and others).
Provide technical packaging expertise / support to marketing queries during the concept / design development phase. Liaise with strategic managers / coordinators, other RRP functions, agencies, suppliers and manufacturers to guarantee best service to the market and smooth project realization according expectations and standards.
Support other RRP functions, suppliers and manufacturers until final FG production, meeting JTI quality standards and project objectives.
Initiate SRA approval for all relevant packaging components via specification management in the TPA. Monitor and control usage of only qualified materials for JTI products.
Create and maintain specifications in the TPA. Support material qualifications for packaging materials from technical printing point of view.
Coordinate qualification process with suppliers, manufacturers, SRA and GSC for material tests.
Ensure ongoing reporting of activities, including technology & supply chain trend, supplier performance, packaging related manufacturing issues & quality, project status & progress to supervisor, R&D Packaging.
Estimate, review and approve packaging one-time costs and ensure budget owner approval prior to incurrence. Contribute to project & spec management systems according to assigned role.
Provide input to corporate planning cycles as requested by supervisor.
Assess new packaging suppliers and track performance of current suppliers. Keep close contact to respective suppliers to ensure that JTI quality standards will be achieved and maintained, undertaking Spot Checks as part of supplier visits and recording finding via the CAPA system.
Set, approve, and supply to the Project Management Team for archiving and distribution of color standards to the respective parties involved.
Attendance and sign-off of first trial & commercial print productions as well as production trials & FG production start-up if requested.
Support printers and or material qualifications according to RRP Procurement strategy.
Ensure the compliance to the JTI Management systems and respective duties in the department as well as cooperation on the continuous improvement process.
Perform any other tasks given by the direct manager.
A recognized professional qualification in Packaging or Printing Engineering with strong project management background or comparable industry experience.
5 years packaging experience within the FMCG industry including substantial experience in project management. Profound technical understanding of packaging engineering, printing & converting technologies and packaging materials such as expertise on sustainable packaging material development, as well as solid supply chain management skills and QA experience.
flexible and willing to frequent travel.
Proficiency in English; other languages such as Japanese, Mandarin, Cantonese or German are advantageous. PC literacy : MS Office incl MS Project & MS Visio, and a working knowledge of the Adobe family of applications (Illustrator, Photoshop etc) and SAP is of advantage.
