The HKUST Fok Ying Tung Graduate School (FYTGS) is a university-wide office to provide oversight and support in development and delivery of postgraduate education covering the entire administration scope in this area.

FYTGS is searching for self-motivated, capable individuals to fill two Manager positions to lead operational efforts in the implementation of postgraduate policies and functions.

Appointees will be stationed in the HKUST Guangzhou campus.


The appointees will have the opportunity to be involved in a range of administrative duties in regard to the oversight and support of postgraduate student admission, outreach and curricular management.

Major duties include :

  • a) Assist the Associate Dean to set up all related policies, procedures and guidelines for the GZ campus to be adapted from the CWB practice, to prepare for the inaugural intakes in the GZ campus;
  • b) Plan and implement student recruitment and admission initiatives and step up international recruitment efforts in partnership with the academic units;
  • c) Administer studentship and scholarship schemes;
  • d) Monitor and assure adherence to academic requirements, policies and regulations in collaboration with academic units;
  • e) Assist in overseeing academic standard of postgraduate programs, keeping track of study progress of postgraduate students, and coordinating enrichment activities;
  • f) Provide secretariat support to committees including vetting of proposals, preparing meeting papers, drafting committee minutes and following through the implementation of decisions made by the committees;
  • g) automate business processes; and

    h) coach and supervise junior staff.

    The appointees may be required to attend activities scheduled outside regular office hours occasionally. For true integration and coherence of both campuses, the appointees are expected to be stationed in the Clear Water Bay campus for on-the-job training in the initial appointment period.

    They may subsequently be required to travel to the Clear Water Bay campus from time to time, as needed.


    Applicants should possess a good bachelor's degree with preferably 7 years of post-qualification work experience. Work experience in the higher education sector or a public / quasi-public organization (especially on student management) is preferred.

    The appointees should possess good planning, organizational and communication skills. IT skills will be an asset. The appointees should be self-motivated, team players who have a solution-driven mindset, possessing a strong sense of responsibility and the ability to mobilize working partners to produce quality work under pressure and tight timelines.

    Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese is required. It is best that candidates can present relevant test scores to demonstrate English proficiency.

    Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview and / or written test.

    This is a Mainland appointment and the appointees will be offered a contract by the HKUST Mainland entity in accordance with the local labor laws and regulations.

    Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
