Supports the quantitative and analytical requirements of Risk function, in the form of insurance risk management, business plan stress testing, capital management and other analytical risk activities.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver and embed the ERM framework across the Region and selected Asia Operations / Functions
  • Work with management to determine appropriate risk management responses to risk situations as necessary
  • Recommend, implement and lead initiatives that impact on the longer-term risk management effectiveness of the business
  • Work out a well communicated and resourced plan to rollout the ERM across the REGION and selected Global Functions / Operations
  • Identify appropriate remedial action to address issues raised when rolling out the ERM, and successful implementation by the first line of defence
  • Facilitate the implementation of the Risk Management Strategy / ERM across the REGION and Asia Operations / Functions.
  • The plan will capture a well sequenced rollout of the following ERM areas :

  • Risk Profiling
  • Controls Assurance
  • Scenario Analysis
  • Updating risk appetite standards
  • Embedding KPI’s
  • Risk culture
  • Embed these risk processes and tools across the REGION and Asia Operations
  • Second line oversight and challenge of internal processes and controls including monitoring the timeliness of control performance.
  • Maintain knowledge of local insurance industry

  • Maintain a strong network with risk professionals both across the QBE Asia and externally
  • Drive an appropriate risk management culture across QBE Asia Operations.
  • Form a full understanding of the risk profile within the cluster
  • Understand regulatory and external stakeholder requirements (including but not limited to regulators, rating agencies and shareholders)
  • In conjunction with management, identification of pre-emptive or early-warning measures of potential major or systemic risk issues.
  • Assist management to design appropriate and cost effective solutions
  • Meet deadlines for internal and external stakeholder requirements
  • Share knowledge and risk insights across the business
  • Collaborate with appropriate stakeholders and generate strong relationships to drive excellent outcomes
  • Promote consistent and ethical behaviour and champion a strong RISK culture
  • Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 plus years of professional working experience, with at least 5 years in a Risk Management role
  • Risk management qualification (desirable)
  • Management experience in leading a small team of risk specialist (desirable)
  • Good knowledge of industry best practice in Enterprise Risk Management
  • Good understanding of the insurance industry and current market environment at a domestic and international level. (desirable)
  • Good knowledge of regulatory requirements within the Financial Services Industry (Insurance industry desirable)
  • Capable of representing team or function in a range of internal and forums
  • Ability to influence GHO and Group Risk Senior Management and develop relationships with key stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
