As part of the Greater China Regional team, this communications & PMO role strategically handles issue & crisis communications in Greater China, with a focus on Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macao.

He / she will own Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macao media relation, including local and international media, to seed China story.

He / she will also provide communications support to President, Greater China.

On the other hand, this role is also a key member that provides planning, business consultancy, internal communication and event planning services to the President, Greater China and their leadership teams.

Key responsibilities will include engaging Great China Leadership team to identify, plan and execute large-scale consulting / project management related initiatives that will enable a successful delivery against the strategic priorities of Marriott International.


Education and Experience

Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows :

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in corporate public relations, media relations, or communications. Travel, hospitality, PR agency, MNC background preferred.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; Ability to present ideas and information in a concise, organized manner, with excellent time management skills.
  • Deep knowledge of the current geopolitical situation in Greater China, understand the sensitivity in Hong Kong and Taiwan.
  • Excellent Corporate Communications skillets, including business communications, crisis and executive profiling, etc.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the digital / social landscape.
  • Ability to analyze content and channel effectiveness.
  • Prior experience in leading the planning and execution of strategic projects and communications.
  • A team player who thrives in a pressure driven, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Excellent judgment, critical thinking and decision-making capabilities.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with a keen ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization and work effectively with outside public relations resources.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or Marketing preferred. Master’s degree a plus.

    Expected Contributions

    Corporate Communications and Crisis Management

  • Lead speechwriter and editor of media briefing points for President, Greater China and several discipline-specific leaders which includes :
  • Research and write speeches, stage / audio / video scripts, Q&A and other vehicles.
  • Executive blogs.
  • Provide solid issue management communications supports in Greater China, with a focus on Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macao
  • Owns Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macao Media relations, including local and international media, to seed China Story
  • Research and maintain files for industry, company and other reference statistics, data & outlook information, including analyst reports, TIAA industry reports, etc.
  • Maintain relationships with a variety of internal and external resources for news and data regarding industry, company, investor relations, legislation, CSR, diversity, etc.
  • Consult with Corporate Headquarters (HQ) users, including senior executives, on writing effectively for various electronic communication vehicles.
  • Write, edit and coordinate release of articles.

  • Serve as main point of contact and consultant for content owners to determine the best communications strategies for internal company communication channels, such as Weekly Update via The Check-In.
  • Assist with communications plans for company and department initiatives.
  • Provide recommendations to department leaders, which will assist in the evolution of all communication vehicles to optimize communications flow, message integration and delivery platforms.
  • Partner with the Media Relations team to deliver crisis / issues communication plans to targeted internal stakeholders and audiences.
  • Ensure integration of plans with Media Relations for alignment and message consistency with external audiences.

  • Handle protocols for internal announcements and create alignment by taking concepts / ideas from various stakeholders and creating visually compelling content.
  • Project Management Leadership

    Provide project management and analytical support for large, complex, cross-function implementation projects. Acts as a project management leader and day-to-day project decision maker with the following responsibilities :

  • Accountable to the results of the project

  • Participate in review cycles at key milestones & provide go / no-go decision
  • Actively participate in strategy sessions
