We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Head of HSBC Securities Services Chief Control Office, Hong Kong.

Principal responsibilities

  • Leadership role with the HSS Chief Control Office and the primary responsibility is to manage the Control office function for HSS Hong Kong business, responsible for planning and executing enterprise risk management activities, and ensure appropriate risk and control management for all products within HSS Hong Kong
  • Involve risk advisory, independent challenge and risk assessment in relation to all risk governance, reporting and data quality activities undertaken by the CCO Function or the HSS Business or Risk Owners in line with policies, closely work with HSS Hong Kong business head, and be a trusted advisor to management for managing business risk profile
  • Understand and interpret all enterprise and operations risk management framework requirements, and changes thereto, and to provide on-going assurance and reporting regarding global adherence with requirements, working closely with Asia CCO teams and risk stewards and stakeholders
  • Assist the CCO function in the consistent design and delivery a suitable risk based assurance and monitoring program, including continuous monitoring of risk and controls, control testing, thematic risk assessment, operation reviews review, ensure the HSS RCA is dynamically maintained, based on all relevant risk triggers
  • Oversee the effective monitoring of risks, services and processes against agreed group-wide, global standards and external requirements, assist the business with coordination and preparation of Internal, External Audit and Compliance Reviews and ensure the closure of any Audit Identified Issues
  • Support the CCO and HSS senior management in ensuring the appropriate risk and control structure is in place and that risks that have been highlighted are managed appropriately
  • Maintain relationships with other line of defense risk functions and local business, including branch managers and business managers, play a key role in communication across HSS, GBM, the Global Functions, especially Group Risk, and HSBC Technology and Service regarding the Risk and Control Agenda
  • Ensure the risk governance framework is clear, fit for purpose and executed as defined, and that escalation paths are adequate and effective, support line management as a key point of contact for HSS risk and control framework, policies, governance and reporting arrangements
  • Requirements

  • Strong experience in enterprise risk management and risk control design and assessments
  • Extensive work experience in financial markets or banking, with relevant experience in assurance, risk and control or audit functions within financial industry
  • Working knowledge of Securities Markets, Fund Services and Custody and Clearing business
  • Strong leadership and management ability, including motivating employees in the wider organization
  • Broad knowledge of the external environment, such as regulatory, political, securities markets
  • Strong communications skills and proven ability to articulate complex issues concisely and in clear language
  • Exceptional relationship management and collaboration skills, ability to form effective relationships and ability to influence stakeholders across the organization
  • Able to handle complex requests and varying timescales, can make decisions quickly and consistently
  • Self-starter, agile and adaptable to various situations and challenges
