Role and Responsibilities :

The Digital and Data Transformation team within the Private Bank seek a Mandarin Chinese speaking candidate with extensive experience in building out digital capabilities particularly in the China market (onshore and offshore).

The individual will be a trusted point of authority with global senior stakeholders and be able to collaborate effectively at all levels.

The role will encompass the following :

  • A unique opportunity to play a significant, guiding role in the Bank’s vision to build out the China platform, specifically the expansion of key Digital capabilities.
  • In collaboration with the project management team, help to shape the strategy and business model for the overall program.
  • Invest in deep knowledge of our China clients and the data about how they engage with our products, coupled with tracking of industry trends and the competitive landscape.
  • Be the product owner for key digital initiatives that support the business’ market growth in China, including the roll out of digital engagement, translations and other industry standard capabilities.
  • This involves taking responsibility for the product vision and strategies to come up with effective solutions to problems that are valuable (our users choose to use them), viable (the solution works for the business), usable (the users can figure out how to use) and feasible (our engineers have the skills and technology to implement them)

  • Convert business use cases into viable product user stories. Proactively identify the specific risks, issues and dependencies that need to be managed and work with project management to mitigate these accordingly.
  • Demonstrate strategic foresight in line with the Bank’s vision for China. Identify the appropriate digital solutions for the China Market.
  • Make strategic recommendations to global stakeholders supported by industry evidence and feasibility analyses.

  • Engage closely in cross-LOB initiatives for China orientated initiatives.
  • Partner with key stakeholders including senior business leads, Technology, Legal, Risk and Compliance functions to ensure solutions are robust, compliant and fit for purpose.
  • Skills / Competencies / Education Qualifications :

  • Written and verbal business fluency in (Mandarin) Chinese, is a must.
  • High proficiency and effectiveness in written and oral communication skills in English and Chinese; ability to communicate complex messages effectively with all levels of management from a variety of business functions.
  • A creative, outcomes orientated mindset who always puts the needs of the client at the forefront of design capabilities.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience with deep expertise in Digital Product Management and Digital China initiatives, (particularly for the Wealth Management sector).
  • Strong digital experience for the Chinese market’s payment clearing centralized platform (e.g. UnionPay, AliPay, TenPay), Social Media platforms (e.
  • g. WeChat), transactional services (including Online Trading capabilities), settlement platform(China Clear), digitalized operational processes e.

    g. Onboarding and KYC with an avid ongoing interest in banking client’s / market trends and usage patterns.

  • Strong familiarity with the Chinese (onshore) financial services industry, particular with respect to Digital trends and behaviors, Cloud usage and Cybersecurity, regulatory environment and challenges, competitive landscape, market nuances and outlook.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills built on industry experience and proven track record. Ability to work under pressure and adapt constantly to change, adopting a structured, coherent approach in a dynamic, high pressure environment.
