The Investment Management Hong Kong is looking for a Vice President, IM Communications APAC, based in Hong Kong. The position will sit within a strategic, high pace and proactive international communications function, which is responsible for positioning, promoting and protecting the reputation via the media and internal communications across EMEA, Asia Pacific and Latin America for BNY Mellon Investment Management and its investment firms.
The role predominantly reports and supports the Head of International Communications (based in UK) and IM APAC business, as well as working with the communications team globally.
Quickly develop an understanding of the IM business, our investment firms, and strategic priorities and focus funds, as well as the how the international communications team fits within this.
Determine the communications strategy and execute programs to deliver communications objectives for BNY Mellon Investment Management, its investment firms and its global distribution platform.
Position, promote and protect the reputation of BNY Mellon Investment Management, its investment firms and the global distribution platform via the media across various regions in Asia Pacific - drive company brand equity and reputation.
Provide strong communication counsel to key senior business stakeholder within the Investment management Asia Pacific business.
Create effective proactive media relation programs and campaigns with marketing and distribution priorities, aligned to the business objectives and goals.
Drive media activity which generates regular day-in-day-out top tier media (traditional trade and international media, broadcast TV and radio and newswires) coverage across key regions in Asia Pacific.
Develop communication strategies to drive corporate culture and business strategy with Asia Pacific across IM and the wider enterprise.
Drive internal communications across Asia Pacific and closely connect with global lead of internal communications globally.
Create first class media content and repackage editorial content for media.
Job Specific Competencies :
Proven experience within asset management communications.
Excellent interpersonal skills, combining the ability to build effective networks of relations within the business with a collaborative approach is essential, as well as online and offline media and suppliers.
Strong communicator, who is articulate, dynamic, enthusiastic and a self-starter.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to be clear and concise and clear attention to detail.
Ability to navigate and thrive in a large, complex, global organization - global acumen and experience working across borders, time zones and cultures.
Experience of meeting demands across a multiple of clients or business units with excellent time management skills to meet tight deadlines.
Understanding of the need to establish effective objectives and priorities, as well as management of expectations.
Well-established media contacts and relationships.
Flexibility to manage changing requirements and short timelines.
Ability to translate visionary ideas into functioning, sustainable programs and initiatives.
Experience to actively manage PR agencies to ensure value-add.
Depth of knowledge in Investment Management - across regions, asset classes, competitors, regulations and distribution channels (Institutional, Intermediary, Wealth and Retirement).
Some experience working with and across multiple asset classes, and willingness to expand upon this.
Experience in crisis management issues to minimise reputational damage.
Experience in delivering effective internal communications platforms across a business.
Ability to deliver a high level of service to internal clients and well regarded amongst journalists.
Major of Marketing or Mass Communications or Public Relations or Journalism or Finance related in Bachelor Degree or related combination of higher education is required
10+ years media relations experience, preferably 5+ years within a financial services environment or asset management (institutional or retail asset management).
Seeking a talented communications practitioner, who is results driven with the ability to execute an effective communications strategy.
Proficiency in spoken and written English and Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin) must be required; fluency in an additional Asian language would be a plus
