IT Operations manages the IT infrastructure and supporting services that are critical for HSBC employees and customers, such as cost-efficient hardware, system software, middleware and databases, data centres, voice and data networks, ATMs, desktops and other devices.
The area comprises five functions : Client Services, Enterprise Services and Architecture, Data Centre and Service Management, Relationship Management, Project Management and Risk and Administration.
Collectively, these areas define and deliver HSBC’s technology strategy to support the Group’s goals.
We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a a Senior Database Admin Specialist.
Principal Responsibilities
Participate in a team in Global Private Bank and Wealth IT with responsibility for infrastructure design, implementation, delivery and management
Responsible for managing the delivery of IT Service Sustainability Programme (SSP), the evergreening of technology and critical vulnerability patching for RBWM Global Private Bank and Wealth IT services and infrastructure
Collaborate with architects, developers, and project managers to deliver suitable infrastructure solution which can cope with the business need
Research and evaluate products in support of the technical strategy. Study, design and implement new infrastructure technology according to the standard and governance and help to develop the technical competence of other teammates with the new technology
Ensure systems comply with group infrastructure and security policies and standards
Identify any issues that may arise due to delivery risk; formulate preventive actions or corrective measures and timely escalate major project risks and issues to management
Provide professional consultancy and support in response to queries from developers and business
Work closely with infrastructure domain teams to influence the practice and standard of infrastructure products
Weekend / overnight / production support work may be required according to SSP project release, vulnerability patching schedule, and Live Drill Production support arrangement for Global Private Bank and Wealth IT
Requirements
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline
Understanding of ITIL process i.e. Incident, Problem and Change management
Strong technical skills in Oracle 11g, 12c, 18c, 19c
Understanding of Linux, VMware, AIX Operating Systems
Working knowledge on Oracle Exadata is advantageous
Strong knowledge in RMAN backup and recovery
Expert in Standby, Dataguard configuration and support
Expert in Oracle RAC configuration and support
Must have worked on ASM configuration and support
Strong knowledge in oracle and VCS clusterware concepts
Strong in Database cloning (Refresh), upgrade and patching
Strong Database Performance Tuning skills
Knowledge on OEM configuration, job scheduling, incident management
Desired : Exposure to another RDBMS (MS SQL Server, IBM DB2, Mongo DB, Sybase, PostgreSQL)
Shell scripting knowledge
Working knowledge on AWS, GCP cloud technology is plus
Understanding of Dev-ops model, Agile methodology & related tools
Automation tool knowledge on Ansible, Puppet etc is plus
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Well organised, methodical, with good attention to detail
Adept at grasping and applying new technical concepts and developments
Ability to cope-up with pressure and tight deadlines
