We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as Principal Insurance Architect .
The Global IT Principal Architect for Insurance and AMG is a strategy thought leader who is instrumental in the delivery of global architecture projects within Insurance and AMG.
The job holder owns the design and development of architectures for Global Insurance, including through functionally aligned architects, and they need to ensure they are aligned with group standards, IT and business strategy, meet business objectives and satisfy all relevant regulatory and operational risk controls.
The IT Principal Architect may work across the Enterprise, Technical, Data and Solutions Architecture disciplines.
Key accountabilities include :
Help the business to define their technology change portfolio enabling delivery of the global business strategy and then decomposing the portfolio into requirements that can be delivered in a single DevOps Product Team, or where appropriate, defining programmes required to co-ordinate delivery of complex change across HSBC business areas.
Reduce the cost of deploying change around the Insurance and AMG technology landscape.
Lead, manage the development and implementation of architecture strategy and standards for Insurance and AMG.
Leading the definition of solution architecture for programmes and creating target state roadmaps.
Defining, maintaining and ownining the technical architecture solution relating to platforms and portfolios of products within the supporting CIO function.
Lead architecture and design within the architecture discipline, including ensuring that the target for architecture is implemented consistently across the CIO function and respective of DevOps teams.
Introduce new best practices, processes, operating model, techniques, products, services, technologies and standards where needed against identified use cases, via the appropriate governance bodies.
Work with fellow peers and senior colleagues to ensure vitality across the team and share the responsibility of adapting the capability and its people to the high degree of change and challenge that the market is driving.
Stay abreast of technology trends and advise CIO / Chief Architect and the business about potential benefits / impacts
Lead and drive operational excellence on the full architectural life cycle and guidance to development teams and ensure quality technical deliverables

Provide leadership and support for the ongoing WPB transformation of ways of working into Value Streams and platforms and aligning the Insurance and AMG architecture function to the new ways of working

Managing regular business performance management reporting, review and communications cadence with global teams to ensure technical and business outcomes are met within the defined governance structure
Defines the scope of the strategic responsibility for architecture for Global Insurance and AMG.
Manage a global team of architects within an architecture sub-function
Drive future state architecture execution in collaboration with stakeholders
Drive partnerships with technology vendors to influence industry direction
Mentor and coach less experienced members of staff and promotes understanding of the value of architecture and the appropriate use of technologies and standard
Specific Industry Experience Sought :
Experience with General and Life Insurance products and / or asset management, preferably with a large global insurer, asset manager or fintech.
Strong preference for experience in the context of Agile / Devops, and microservices.
Demonstrate an understanding of the lifecycle of insurance or asset management product development from manufacturing through distribution channels, and the role Digital plays in the future of insurance or asset management distribution
Able to demonstrate an in depth knowledge of available Insurance or asset management industry platforms and how those platforms fit into an overall Insurance or asset management IT solution landscape
Relevant industry accreditation is preferred (i.e. CII or LOMA certification)
