The division New Tech / Internet of Things (IoT) is Munich Re’s newest initiative in order to address new business models and new technologies.

The section Green Tech Solutions pools the expertise for the development and underwriting of complex solutions in the sectors of renewable energy and energy efficiency.

This unit has developed and underwritten many unique and trend setting covers. Especially for the Photovoltaic industry, these solutions have created a significant global insurance market.

GTS has an international set up with offices in San Francisco, Munich, Hong Kong and Tokyo.

Your job

a) Business Development / Pre-Underwriting in Renewable Energies and Green Technologies

  • Driving role in New Business Development especially in Mainland China, Taiwan and Korea
  • Customer contact and site visits initiation, preparation, operation and follow up
  • Strategic tasks like market studies / evaluation, data analysis, etc.
  • Co-ordination with international customers and colleagues also in other MR locations
  • b) Technical Aspects

  • Preparation of / participation in meetings on Green Technologies like Energy Storage, e-Mobility and Solar PV
  • Presentations and networking on conferences
  • Preparation, execution and documentation of site visits / technical due diligences (only if technical background applies)
  • c) Business and Insurance Processes

  • Identifying the business needs and insurance interest of customers, development of existing and new cover concepts
  • Training clients in making use of performance warranty insurance
  • Business scouting
  • d) Administration : General administrative and supportive tasks regarding team activities

    Your profile

  • University background in business administration, finance or insurance business with high affinity to Green Technologies, especially Solar Photovoltaics
  • Interest, knowledge and / or experience in Green Technologies (ideally Solar Photovoltaics), insurance products and / or marketing
  • Ideally an existing network to the Solar Industry inside and outside China
  • Understanding of legal aspects / insurance contracts
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience (insurance / project finance / engineering)
  • Proficiency in Mandarin and good command in English, ability to translate during meetings
  • Co-operative can-do mindset, self motivated and communicative
  • Willingness to travel internationally up to 50% mostly to Mainland China, Taiwan, etc.
