Mid-level (4-8 years PQE) role within Hong Kong or Singapore Legal providing (a) TMT legal support to IT divisions and other divisions' technology initiatives locally, regionally and globally, and (b) legal support to the Corporate Services and Real Estate team in Asia.
In performing such role, work closely with (i) members of relevant business / service owner of the initiative, (ii) other members of the Global IT Legal practice group and other Corporate Legal lawyers within Asia and in other regions, and (iii) local, regional and global internal stakeholders in other departments in connection with (a) and (b) such as Strategic Sourcing and Procurement, IT Security, Compliance, Data Protection, Business Continuity Management, Cloud Governance, Outsourcing Committees, and others.
Review, draft and negotiate technology contracts in support of the organisation's technology and digital transformation needs, which may be local, regional or global, as well as other commercial contracts including outsourcing, consultancy, market data, etc.
Analyze relevant issues, seek alternatives and help business resolve problems associated with technology and Corporate Real Estate and Services transactions and matters, and mitigate risk through appropriate legal documentation, transaction structures, internal operational procedures or otherwise.
Support the Head of IT and Real Estate Legal, Asia in negotiating and handling major global technology transactions for the firm.
Draft, review, and negotiate (including dealing directly with the supplier's deal team and external counsel where necessary) a variety of legal documentation for various types of transactions relating to technology and Corporate Real Estate and Services.
Work closely with the business / service owner and other corporate colleagues to ensure that internal due diligence processes are completed, and relevant legal, regulatory and reputational risks are escalated to senior management for consideration and approval.
Key Experience & Skills
4-8 years PQE, preferably qualified in a common law jurisdiction
At least 2 years' relevant experience in TMT legal practice area
At least some general contract law experience required, with experience in real estate matters (including leases) being a bonus but not a must
Strong contract review and drafting skills
Clear communication skills
Strong problem solving skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with colleagues
Enthusiastic, passionate, flexible and eager to learn
Other than English, Chinese language skills (both spoken and written) is a preferable but not a must. Other language skills are a bonus.
