Your team responsibilities

The role of Head of ESG Issuer Relations, APAC will lead the ESG Issuer Relations team activities in the APAC (Asia-Pacific ex India) region.

This role will drive the team’s strategic engagement objectives, expanding and developing our relationships with corporate issuers in the region and globally.

This is a highly collaborative role in a growing and evolving function at MSCI ESG Research, with the opportunity to contribute to the development of market leading ESG research, Ratings, and Climate frameworks, which inform global investment decision-making and capital allocation strategies.

In this role, you will work cross-functionally across research, product, and coverage teams, as well as gain experience working in a global team and organization.

The position can be based in Hong Kong, Beijing, or Shanghai, with opportunity for local flex work and reports to the Global Head of ESG Issuer Relations.

    Your key responsibilities

  • Manage direct interactions with significant issuers based in the APAC region, across various industries
  • Delegate across research and data teams to gather intel and respond to substantive questions and feedback from companies on their MSCI ESG Research assessments
  • Engage with sector leads and analysts to bridge the issuer-analyst gap, facilitating the conversation between analysts and the companies in their coverage
  • Propose thoughtful and innovative improvements to the issuer experience, including influencing the evolution of the ESG Research processes and methodologies, including in the development of our dedicated online platform for issuers
  • Develop familiarity with global and regional ESG regulatory and disclosure advancements such as TCFD, SFDR, and others as they impact issuers
  • Lead and execute on outreach and initiatives, such as issuer-facing webinars and industry roundtables to strengthen MSCI’s market visibility and thought leadership with companies
  • Act as the spokesperson for ESG Issuer Relations with regional stakeholders, including industry associations, stock exchanges, professional and conference organizations
  • Actively contribute to content, guidance, and research on various topics related to issuers, as well as distilling relevant issuer trends and insights for an investor audience
  • Your skills and experience that will help you excel

  • 7-10 years relevant work experience including at a corporate advisory, international organization and / or other public issuer focused experience such as ESG reporting, investor relations, or corporate sustainability
  • Demonstrated understanding and passion for corporate responsibility and sustainability
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, refine and communicate complex topics to key stakeholders; as well as strong project management skills to coordinate and influence different teams globally
  • Strong communication, relationship building, and diplomacy skills
  • Proven excellent research, writing and analytical skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with senior management and / or board level from corporates and other governance bodies
  • Enthusiasm and experience for working in a collaborative, global environment; team player who is capable and articulate with good interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of ESG disclosure frameworks, and the ESG policy and regulatory landscape a plus
