Managing and quantifying GHG emissions and reductions is a key to mitigate climate change, and businesses need supports from third party with technical / engineering capabilities in validating and verifying GHG emissions and reductions.
KPMG's goal is to help our clients understand and respond to sustainability trends that are driving changes in markets, regulations, and technologies.
Our work ranges from GHG validation, verification to carbon footprint assurance with the aims to avoid double-counting and improve relevance, transparency, completeness, consistency, coherence, and accuracy of GHG reporting data.
Validate / verify GHG activity data and information.
Prepare validation and verification agenda with sampling plans based on received information.
Carry out on-site validation or verification by taking into account key GHG information and impacts but not limited to the following :
proposed level of assurance, materiality, criteria, objectives and scope;
boundaries, physical infrastructure, activities and technologies and those of forehead that cannot be verified on site;
type and number of GHG sources, sinks and / or reservoirs;
complexity of responsible parties' structure and activities;
number, size and location of facilities;
complexity of GHG information system and its control;
GHG activity data;
Complexity of the GHG assertion;
GHG statement prepared by responsible parties or clients.
Communicate with clients and responsible parties effectively for all necessary issues related to GHG validation or verification.
Timely complete validation or verification reports according to the agreed format.
Timely communicate with team leader according to any significant events during audit
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of climate change resilience and mitigation.
Travelling is required for certain cross-border assignments.
S uggested Qualification
Bachelor's degree of engineering or science above, environmental engineering / science is preferred.
Minimum 5 years working experience in environment, energy or GHG management / quantification including 3 years GHG validating / verifying experiences.
Qualification of equivalent knowledge of GHG and environment related standard, such as ISO 14044, ISO 14064, ISO 14067, ISO 14071, ISO 50001, GHG Protocol, etc.
Knowledge of engineering process of production and product-related GHG emissions and reductions.
Knowledge of global carbon pricing, emission trading system and regulations of climate change resilience / mitigation.
Registered ISO auditor GHG assessor is preferred.
Good learning ability and teamwork spirit
Good command of English and Mandarin / Cantonese.
