We provide products and services such as bank accounts, credit cards, personal loans and mortgages, as well as asset management, insurance, wealth management and private banking, that best suit our customers’ needs.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as an Advisory Portfolio Specialist.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Represent Asia business stakeholders and Investment Counsellors in the design and enhancements of the Advisory Platform, working with internal delivery partners as well as external vendors
  • Construct and maintain house models with implementation ideas, including Mutual Funds, Exchange Traded Funds, Managed Solutions for clients in line with risk budget using various risk analytics
  • Collaborate with Investment Counsellors in constructing customized portfolios
  • Collaborate with Investment Counsellors, Investment Strategists, and Product Specialists to implement HSBC Private Bank’s asset allocation models in client portfolios
  • Work with fund selection teams and product specialists in understanding underlying implementation vehicles
  • Liaise with trading platforms, custodians and external managers in resolving issues
  • Monitor performance of models versus benchmark
  • Participate in Private Bank investment committees and governance committees
  • Communicate changes in platform to Front Office, Investment Counsellors and Investment Counsellor Analysts on a timely basis
  • Assume the role of platform super user for Asia, which includes providing training to front line staff in order to optimize use of the platform
  • Drive enhancements with objective of reducing underlying costs, reducing risks and providing fair outcomes to clients
  • Requirements

  • Significant years of investment experience, with a few years directly relating to multi asset portfolio construction and implementation
  • Professional analytical qualifications, for example, the Chartered Financial Analyst designation
  • Excellent understanding of modern portfolio theory and investment risk analytics, previous experience with other risk analytic systems a plus
  • Prior experience with portfolio implementation through various investment vehicles
  • Strong analytical, quantitative and problem solving skills
  • Superior oral and presentation skills in dealing with both internal and external clients
  • Strong and proven leadership skills to develop and nurture stakeholder relationships
  • Excellent relationship management and diplomacy skills, ability to communicate, influence and negotiate effectively
  • Ability to think and plan as part of a Global team and takes personal accountability
  • Collegiate with a solutions focused attitude and has a natural ability to navigate around challenges
  • Skilled decision maker, able to stand firm and show necessary flexibility where required
  • Fluency in English and Cantonese is mandatory. Fluent in Mandarin a plus
  • To be considered for this role, the relevant rights to work in Hong Kong is required.
