The role holder works within the function’s internal and external reporting team, within the areas of responsibility of the Chief Operating Officer, Group Risk.

The key responsibilities of the role holder include supporting with the design and production of risk reporting management information ( MI ) and reports to Executive and Non-Executive Risk Committees and the Board, as well as measuring monitoring and reporting risk exposures according to the Group Risk Appetite and limits framework.

The role holder produces key CRCO level reports to the Board, and other Risk Committees and supports the production and risk oversight of Prudential’s public disclosures, especially as they relate to risk matters ( risk disclosures’).

The role holder is expected to have strong stakeholder management and communication skills for interaction with the BUs and other functions.

Job Responsibilities

The items below represent typical core responsibilities of the team. The role holder is expected to have the ability and willingness to remain flexible in requirements :

Designing risk MI with SMEs and planning and preparation of risk MI and reports for the Group Risk committees, the Board and other fora and audiences across the Group.

  • Ensuring compliance with the governance requirements of Internal and External reporting
  • Supporting with critical quantitative and qualitative analysis of the Group’s and BU risk information.
  • Collaborating with the wider reporting and MI teams across the Group to ensure effective communication and transparency, while sharing best practices, insights, data and reports to improve synergies and efficiencies across the Group-wide function.
  • Assisting with the production of the Group’s risk-focused external public risk disclosures for annual, and half year reporting, debt prospectuses and other major transactions as required, by following industry and regulatory requirements and trends, as well as working closely with other key functions such as Finance.
  • Supporting with risk oversight of the Group’s external public disclosures produced by other functions.
  • Following industry, accounting and regulatory developments that affect underlying methodologies or assumptions for internal and external reporting purposes.
  • Providing support as required to the Chief Operating Officer, Group Risk, pursuant to the team and function’s objectives
  • As a core member of the Group-wide Risk and Compliance team, the role holder will have the opportunity to become involved in special projects, such as deep dives and thematic reviews.
  • Job Requirements

  • University graduate, ideally with some financial services experience.
  • Some technical knowledge of insurance business / products and regulation and financial reporting.
  • Some quantitative background (actuarial / accountancy / finance / economics / business / statistics / maths) would be considered an advantage.
  • FRM (GARP) or PRM (PRMIA) certification will be beneficial.

  • Risk management experience, ideally covering such topic areas as enterprise risk management, risk appetite frameworks and stress & scenario testing would be preferred but more emphasis is placed on an enthusiasm for developing a career in risk.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Strong user of Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Core Competences Required :

  • Good inter-personal skills and ability to build stakeholder relationships.
  • Being a cooperative and an enthusiastic team player.
  • Highly motivated and able to work on own initiative when required.
  • Developed analytical and numerical skills with the ability to look at both the details and the big picture.
  • Self-starter and proactive with good organisation and planning skills to deliver ad-hoc or special tasks.
  • Willingness to develop technical knowledge across a broad range of quantitative and qualitative risk management areas.
  • Flexibility in dealing with changing priorities and shifting across a broad range of topics.
  • Being able to communicate with energy and conviction; and, comfortable with interacting verbally with different areas of the organisation and BUs.
