We provide products and services such as bank accounts, credit cards, personal loans and mortgages, as well as asset management, insurance, wealth management and private banking, that best suit our customers’ needs.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a PayMe Head of Design.

Principal Responsibilities

We are looking for a strong creative leader to deliver high-quality innovative solutions for PayMe products, and build and inspire loyal and adaptable teams.

The Head of Design works in close partnership with design peers, leadership, and cross-functional teams across the PayMe products.

A strong creative leader with deep understanding of the digital wallet landscape, particularly in the APAC region. This individual interfaces with all product teams to deliver above industry par design processes and standards, innovative creative and design thinking and necessary mentorship for PayMe creatives.

This individual is a dynamic creative able to propose and adapt to any situation necessary, an expert in all things related to user-centric design, user experience, interaction design, brand consistency, and localisation.

They can truly get to the heart of what the user needs and are able to confidently sell ideas internally and externally.

They do not shy away from a challenge and can operate interchangeable at a functional and strategic level.

  • Lead the PayMe product design team from research to concept to detailed design to product development and delivery
  • Be the thought leader for the design team and encourage the team to explore new ways of thinking, innovation and design
  • Operates at the same caliber and responsibility as tech leads and senior product managers
  • Champions design and elevates the team’s personal branding across PayMe and HSBC
  • Lead and develop a team of UI and UX product designers
  • Evolve the design process and standards of PayMe design through workflows, tooling and creative thinking
  • Responsible for evolving the growth and career paths of individual designers within the team
  • Sets the standard of design and pushes the envelope in innovation, not only within PayMe, but across wider global HSBC products
  • Celebrates others’ great ideas and helps to move ideas forward
  • Builds and initiates long-term partnerships within Creative and other stakeholders in support of overall product objectives
  • Challenges standard practices, and applies new and different ways of thinking to generate new idea or opportunities
  • Create a safe and nurturing environment for enablement and empowerment amongst team members
  • Promote design concepts and innovations from the design team
  • Requirements

  • Relevant years of experience in interaction design, mobile design, visual arts or related discipline
  • Relevant years in team management and scaling design teams across various products or projects
  • Experience in people management and developing career paths of multiple team members
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present a strong rationale for product, technical and design decisions
  • Ability to execute and manage multiple design projects under tight deadlines
  • Proficient in best practices for user-centric design process
  • Strong knowledge of UX / UI design systems, principles and design trends across mobile, web and service design
  • Excellent proficiency in Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, and other relevant digital design tools
  • Customer messaging communications delivery and development.
  • Understanding of use cases for machine learning.
  • This role sits in the Data & Insights team but is expected to work closely with Product, Marketing, IT and Customer Experience.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least solid years experience in environments such as below :
  • Customer engagement
  • Product management
  • Digital marketing to existing customers
  • Analytics focused on customer messaging
  • Programming (but with ownership of the business outcome),
  • Building effective working relationships with multiple stakeholders
  • To be considered for this role, the relevant rights to work in Hong Kong is required.
